Greetings to all Architecture lovers!

Today I want to share with you my writing about the Triton Hotel, also known as the Neptuno - Triton Hotel complex. This hotel, which belongs to the Cuban hotel chain Grand Caribe, has a three-star category and is located on 3rd Avenue and 74th Street, in the Reparto de Miramar, in the western part of the Cuban capital. It is situated in one of the busiest areas of the municipality of Playa, very close to the coast and surrounded by modern hotels and shopping malls.

The Triton was built in the 1970s, marking the beginning of a new stage of resurgence of the tourism sector in the island, after 1959, when Cuba underwent a change in the political and social system. After a few years another hotel was built next to it, with the name of Neptuno and a very alike design. Seen from a distance, both look like twin brothers, although when we get closer we realize that each one has its own peculiarities.

There was a time when the Triton suffered a notable neglect due to lack of maintenance, and it was also overshadowed by the large and luxurious hotels that were built around it. In fact, it seems a bit out of place in the architecture of the area, surrounded by modern hotels and buildings. Although I like the Hotel Triton very much, it looks to me like an old man who has lived through better times, but refuses to change, despite the fact that its surroundings are being transformed and modernized.

However, I must say that currently the hotel has undergone improvements, and it looks different from how it was a few years ago, it has been painted, rebuilt and looks renewed and better cared for. At the entrance, adorning the place, we can see a beautiful fountain with a sculpture of the god of the seas and his imposing trident.

This day I went with my husband and our little daughter to the hotel stores, as I had to buy some shoes for the little girl. I was very pleased to see how nice it looked inside, with lots of lights and festive decorations. The fur store is on the second floor, so we had to climb the staircase which was illuminated by several colorful lights. My little girl was delighted with so much color. As we climbed the steps, on one of the walls we could see a painting showing a sort of family tree where we could see photographs of different moments and commemorations of the hotel.

On the fist floor, there is a long corridor with a small gallery of stores, from this height you can appreciate in greater detail the hotel lobby, where what stands out the most is the large spider lamp that adorns the ceiling. This is a simple and cozy hotel, with a quiet atmosphere and a design in which every detail is appreciated, with spaces dedicated to ornamental plants which gives the place an atmosphere of serenity that I really liked.

We left satisfied with this visit, for my little girl it was quite a ride and she enjoyed the decorations and the festive atmosphere, and her father and I were glad that we were able to buy her some very nice shoes.
