Small Pony Barrel Works' 'All The Best Hats' • #BeerSaturday

Nope, that's not fizzy wine or grape soda. That is beer. A "blend of golden sour beers, aged in oak barrels, with Haskap berries."
😚 A sucker punch of sour!
I received this charming little small batch bottle as a gift for dogsitting a friend's corgi. It sat in the fridge for quite a while before I ventured trying it. I did no research whatsoever on what a haksap berry was, beyond what was written on the back of the bottle:
Canadian Honeyberry.
Blue Honeysuckle.
Lonicera Caerulea.
These are other names for the Haskap Berry. A curious blue fruit from the Honeysuckle bush, it has caught our attention as it exhibits many different berry flavours, ranging from cranberry and raspberry through blueberry and grape. Sort of a jack of all trades. A wearer of all the best hats.
I was unprepared.
I like sour beers, but this thing was on a whole new level.
It is a sipping beer! The flavour is ramped up to 10, with the fizziness shoving intense sour berry vibes into the crevice of every taste bud. After the initial explosion, you're left with a pleasant jammy vibe.
All The Best Hats is mature, complex, and not messing around. Honestly, had I known about the payload in advance, I'd've saved it to split in smaller glasses between 4–6 friends.
This beer is an experience, and won't be for everyone. It certainly made my Saturday more interesting though!
