As a student, there were two ways of living: study and survive while studying. It wasn't hit the next club and buy the latest things. Nah, life was a bit complicated and hard back then. But right now, it's really a different story.

I recall back then in school when I got robbed, my phone was stolen, and my school fees were due. I managed to get my school fees from my parents, but my phone was another case, and that was when I stumbled on the platform called Hive. I was desperately in need of a gadget. My mind wasn't idle, though there wasn't any chance of me getting a phone. I immediately got my mind working. One thing that went through was my skills: making people's hair; from braiding, I was able to save money; doing people's assignments also helped a lot. It took a couple of months, but I pulled through and got my present phone. I got into the hive immediately; I started little and started earning from posting, interacting, and participating in different events, and I can confidently say that I have earned more than I spent on the phone.

Back then, 100k for me was so much; how can a student carry a phone worth that amount? But I knew the phone was going to serve its purpose. I needed a phone that had a good camera, good space for my photos and videos, and most especially, a good battery.

Another thing that I am still willing to spend on, even if their price goes beyond the moon, are drawing tools; they are super expensive, and currently the price of things is never stable in Nigeria; they never drop to afford the price; instead, the price keeps going up rapidly.

Art tools or drawing materials are no joke when it comes to price, and not just price, but seeing them is on another level. I remember when I started drawing, my parents got most of the art material I used, but as time went on, I realized I needed more. To make my art work more real to the eyes, I needed different types of pencils and different shades of color, and in drawing, you could actually get those cheap materials to draw, like a pencil, a drawing book, and some crayons, and that's it. But real professionals know it doesn't work that way; they actually know there are different types of drawing books or materials. The same goes with pencils; the more money you put into your drawing tools, the more realistic and satisfying your work becomes.

I remember that at the beginning of this year, I had spent close to 100k just because I needed a particular set of colors. At first, I had trouble finding it, but I still got it through perseverance and persistence. I am glad every drawing tool I ever had served me in one way or another. And people who are artists, specializing in art work and drawing, know the worth of their drawings or art items, so they value both their purpose and the results they bring. So fine through my artwork, I have earned from it, gained recognition from it, and it keeps me inspired.

I do not go out so much; I'm not an outdoor kind of person, though I'm social in most cases. But when I step out, it must be really important, and this particular occasion was important; it was my aunt's wedding. At some point, we lost hope that such a day would arrive, but she shook everyone. And I couldn't miss out on this occasion, not after she had personally invited me to be on her train. One of the most memorable things I brought back then wasn't even my dress; it wasn't my makeup either, but my shoes. Heels are personally not my favorite things to wear, but this was an occasion I couldn't pass by or buy my way out.

So I made up my mind to get a heel. Getting to the shop where it was sold, I found out that this wear had a ridiculous price tag on it; it was just for a day; why should it be so expensive? And borrowing was out of the question; I needed to buy my own shoes. Though the heels were comfortable and very satisfying, they served their purpose that day because I was too excited; all the shouting and jumping didn't land me on the floor. And I still wear them to church, though I couldn't pay the money all by myself. I paid half, while my mom backed me up with the rest. I can't come and go and kee myself for shoes.

And these are mostly the expensive things I possess, because to me, if they don't add valves some way or another, why purchase them?. And that's how I think they should be; they should add more value than the current price on the table to get them. We can't purchase every expensive thing just because of their price tag or because one wants to feel like they belong. Nah, it doesn't work that way with me; it has to be super important for me to get it. And these three things were important.
