A tourist experience: San Jose's former warehouse cultural center [eng/esp]

 With the approach of Mother's Day, which is celebrated every year in Cuba on the second Sunday of May, I was looking for gifts for the mothers of my family, and this year I wanted to go a little out of the traditional, so I decided to buy some handicrafts.
With this in mind, I was recommended to visit one of the most incredible places Havana has, which is currently an ideal place to enjoy a tourist experience, and I was also able to find the gifts I needed.

Con la cercanía del festejo del día de las Madres, que se celebra cada año en Cuba el segundo domingo del mes de mayo, estuve buscando regalos para las mamás de mi familia, y este año quería salirme un poco de lo tradicional, así que me decidí por comprar algunas artesanías.
Con este objetivo me recomendaron que visitara uno de los lugares más increíbles que tiene La Habana, y que actualmente es un sitio ideal para disfrutar de una experiencia turística, y además pude encontrar los regalos que necesitaba.
 

I am referring to the Cultural Center former warehousing depots in San José, which has now become a space full of art. It is located on Paula Avenue, in Old Havana. Nearby there are other important places that can also be a tourist attraction such as the Floating Bridge, the Beer Factory, and the Old Tobacco and Wood Warehouse.
For people who are sightseeing in the city, access is very convenient because the tourist buses that tour the most iconic places of the capital, have a stop on their route there, and before entering you can enjoy the railway lines recovered by archaeologists.

Me refiero al Centro Cultural Antiguos Almacenes de Depósitos de San José, que actualmente ha devenido en un espacio cargado de arte. Este se encuentra ubicado en la Avenida de Paula, en la Habana Vieja. Cerca tiene otros lugares importantes que también pueden constituir un atractivo turístico como el Puente Flotante, la Fábrica de Cerveza, y el Antiguo Almacén de Tabaco y Madera.
Para las personas que estén haciendo turismo en la ciudad, es muy cómodo el acceso porque los buses turísticos que recorren los lugares más icónicos de la capital, tienen una parada en su ruta allí, y antes de entrar se puede disfrutar de las líneas férreas recuperadas por los arqueólogos.

The building is named after the wall canvas and the bastion of San José that were located on that site at the time of its foundation in the 19th century. At the time, the warehouse service provided was one of the most advanced of its time.
Nowadays, the cultural center has different marked streets that are formed for a better organization of the hundreds of points of sale that exist in its interior.

La edificación lleva su nombre por el lienzo de la muralla y el baluarte de San José que se encontraban en ese sitio para su fecha de fundación en el siglo XIX. En su momento, el servicio de almacenes que se brindaba era uno de los más adelantados de su época.
Actualmente, el centro cultural posee diferentes calles señalizadas que se forman para una mejor organización de los cientos de puntos de venta que existen en si interior.

In the center you can discover handicrafts of all kinds: footwear, clothing, accessories, home decorations, manufactured beauty products and souvenirs of Cuba. Mostly the space is visited by foreigners because they can find typical gifts of our culture on their return.

En el centro se puede descubrir artesanías de todo tipo: calzado, vestuario, accesorios, decoraciones para el hogar, productos de belleza manufacturados y suvenires del destino Cuba. En su mayoría el espacio es visitado por extranjeros porque pueden encontrar regalos típicos de nuestra cultura a su regreso.

From my perspective, the most fascinating thing in terms of visual arts are the colorful paintings that are sold in the place. There are canvases of all sizes, showing everything from the beautiful Cuban mulatto to the antique cars that travel throughout the city. There are even artists who make self-portraits on the spot and commissioned works of all kinds.

Desde mi perspectiva, lo más fascinante en materia de artes visuales son los cuadros llenos de colores que se venden en el lugar. Existen lienzos de todos los tamaños, que muestran desde la hermosa mulata cubana hasta los carros antiguos que transitan por toda la urbe. Incluso existen artistas que realizan autorretratos al momento y obras por encargo de todo tipo.

What I most enjoyed during my tour was the beautiful view of the sea that can be seen inside, due to its location right next to the sea. This allows the temperature in the place to be pleasant, characterized by a cool breeze, despite the hot climate that exists in the country during most of the year.

Lo que más disfruté en mi recorrido fue la preciosa vista al mar que se divisa en su interior, debido a la ubicación que posee justo al lado del mar. Esto permite que la temperatura en el local sea agradable, caracterizada por una brisa fresca, a pesar del caluroso clima que existe en el país durante la mayor parte del año.

There are rooms inside where the arts fair is held, so you can enjoy theatrical plays, acting master classes, music and spaces for dialogue.
In terms of gastronomy there is a cafeteria where they sell light food, although I particularly decided to drink coconut water, which is served fresh at the time.

Existen salas en su interior donde se celebra la feria de las artes, por lo que se pueden disfrutar de obras teatrales, clases magistrales de actuación, música y espacios para el diálogo.
En materia de gastronomía existe una cafetería donde expenden alimentos ligeros, aunque particularmente me decidí por beber agua de coco, que es servida bien fresca en el momento.
