Ferns, Blooms & Such

“And into the woods I go, to lose my mind and find my soul.”

Magandang buhay!
What a lovely morning down here in DD. I could hardly believe it was already midweek. Whew! Time flies (or maybe it's just me).
Anyway, the Lil Guy and I spent some time in the woods in the other town just before noon Monday while waiting for the hubby to run some errands. The sun was scorching hot so we sought shelter under the tall trees where we enjoyed the fresh air and the fragrance of the pines.

Also, I was delighted with the little things found in the area, like the curling ferns which although a common sight in most places, never cease to amaze me. They are a wonder in their real colors but I thought they look great in black and white.

I was awed to see the new life sprouting from the dry ground - several very young trees growing, pushing through the brown stuff (fallen pine needles and cones).

Meanwhile, the Alstroemerias (Peruvian Lilies) at our first abode are blooming. They are the only surviving plants in the neglected yard, which a couple of years ago, was thriving with different plants, flowering or not. That is hardly the sight today, but thank goodness for these lilies, a few bonsai citrus trees, blackberries, and yeah, the weeds for giving it some colors.

It's been years since we last lived there and while we go home to it every week, I spend most of my time at my folks' house. I did manage to pull out some unwanted plants (radishes and weeds) on Monday morning after my night duty. Quite an achievement, I'd say😅

It's crazy that some things I loved and enjoyed doing in the past feel like heavy tasks for me now. The only reason I could think of is that my priorities and interests have changed. Well, at least I still take time to reconnect with myself and the universe through such short walks😊
