The Majestic Building - Wellington NZ

This is the tallest building in Wellington NZ, it's 116m high, and is actually dwarfed by the hills behind it, so it certainly doesn't feel that high. It is named after the theatrewhich sat on the same site. The theatre was deemed a Earthquake risk during the 1980's and by 1991 it had been replaced by this, which is mainly a office tower

The tower shown here feels very art deco to me. which particularly makes sense when you realise the context in which it was built here is a photo of the Majestic Theatre (not taken by me obviously as it had to be pre 1984 when it stopped operating). As you can see being built in 1929 it had strong art deco vibes

And in this picture - definitely taken by me, in 2025, you can see how it is sympathic to those buildings which are still around.
