The Delicious Cajun Seafood Boil

Hola ladies and gentlemen, I'm back. For today's blog I'm going to share with you my favorite recipe of seafood boil.

Do you like eating seafoods?Are you a fan of seafood recipes? If not, you should really try to eat some seafoods. If yes, I think you should try cooking this recipe. Im sure you would love the taste of it. This recipe might take time but I swear it will be worth it.

Just a quick information, our family is really a fan of cooking and of course eating. One of our bondings would really be cooking different dishes if we have free time or if there’s an occasion. We would try to cook Korean, Italian, and of course Filipino dishes. I’m just so lucky that I don’t have allergies on seafoods because it taste really good. Its really satisfying when you open or peel it and the aroma of it makes you imagined that you are eating on the seaside even though you’re at home. Now, let’s proceed on cooking the Cajun Seafood Boil so that you can try to cook it also.

INGREDIENTS:

• 500g of crabs
• 500g of shrimps
• 500g of mussels
• 500g of squids
• 200g of butter
• 8 cups of water
• 3 pcs of onions, chopped finely
• 2 heads of garlic, chopped finely
• 1Tbsp of salt and ground black pepper
• Sliced sweetcorn and potatoes (depends how many do you want)
• 1 cup of sprite
• ½ cup of seafood broth
• ½ tsp of salt and ground black pepper
• 4 Tbsp hot sauce
• 9 Tbsp brown sugar
• 5 Tbsp cajun seasoning
• 2 pcs of lemon

Let's get into it...

PROCEDURE:

  1. In a deep skillet pan, boil 8 cups of water and add 1 tablespoon of salt and ground black pepper. Add the sliced sweetcorn and potatoes, 500 grams of crabs and let it come to a boil. Then simmer it for about 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, set aside the crabs.

  2. Add 500 grams of shrimps and 500 grams of mussels. Cook the shrimp for about 2 to 3 minutes and for the mussels about 3 to 4 minutes on a high flame setting. After 2 to 3 minutes, strain the shrimps and set aside. After a minute or two set aside the mussels and strain the sliced sweetcorn and potatoes.

  3. On the same pan, add the sliced squid, make sure that it's clean then cook it for about 45 seconds on a high flame setting. After about 45 seconds make sure to strain the squid so that it would not harden and difficult to chew. Then set aside and keep some of the broth for later use.

  4. Saute 3 pieces of finely chopped onions in medium flame setting until it's almost translucent. Add 200 grams of butter, mix it until it dissolve. Add finely chopped garlic and continue to saute for about 1 minute.

  5. Add 1 cup of sprite and the ½ cup of the seafood broth that was set aside earlier and mix it well. Put ½ tsp of salt and ground black pepper, 4 tbsp of hot sauce and mix. After a while, add 9 tbsp of brown sugar, mix it then add 5 tbsp of cajun seasoning and squeeze 2 lemon to balance the taste make sure to mix it well. Continue to reduce on medium flame setting until it's a bit thick.

  6. Lastly, after it thickens, turn off the flame and proceed to put the boiled seafoods in the pan. Also add the sliced sweetcorn and potatoes then mix it thoroughly. After mixing , it's ready to serve.

Note: If you use 1 kg of crabs, shrimp, mussels, and squids just double the measurement of other ingredients. Try it if it’s already balanced and it already suits your taste.
