Meet Our Hive Witnesses: Special Edition #10 Featuring Rishi556
13 comments
As we all know, witnesses are the backbone of the Hive platform—the unsung heroes who ensure everything runs smoothly. They operate critical nodes that keep the platform alive and thriving. Without witnesses, Hive wouldn’t exist, and without us, there would be no content to share and engage with, which is why we need to get familiar with who our witnesses are.
That's why I've created this special edition of "Meet Our Hive Witnesses."
This interview series aims to connect with our witnesses, giving you a closer look at the people who keep Hive running. We’ll dive into their work, motivations, and insights through a series of thoughtful questions.
It is the tenth edition of Meet Our Hive Witnesses Interview and before I continue with the introduction of the next witness that has honoured us to be interviewed, I'd like to say that, as a Hive user who want to see this platform continue to grow and flourish, we all have 30 votes to cast for any Hive witness of our choice and I will say this is the most important 30 votes you will ever cast on this platform for any witnesses that you deem it fit.

Welcome to my interview, it is a great honour to have you here on the show this week @rishi556
Thanks, below are the answers:Rishi556
@rishi556
1 What do you believe is the single most important responsibility of a Hive witness?
@rishi556 Reliably keeping their witness node up. Witness's primary job is to produce blocks and if they can't do that, then they shouldn't be a witness..
2 Do you feel the witness election process is accessible and transparent? If not, how can it be improved?
@rishi556 Yes, you can see who votes for who. All major sites have witness voting very easily accessible and people can use nice links like
to have others vote for them easily3 How do you handle the competition among witnesses, and what differentiates you from other witnesses?
@rishi556 Competition is good and more witnesses should try and do something to contribute to the community. My current \ hive related thing is running a few seed nodes that others running need in order to sync up
4 Do you think Hive’s DPoS model needs modifications? If yes, what specific changes would you recommend?
@rishi556 I'm fine with it, I'll leave the designing of the system to other smarter people.
5 What steps can be taken to ensure more transparency in decision-making, reward distribution, and governance?
@rishi556 Everything on chain is public so you can see who did what. I think we just need more users to participate in governance to make it more transparent and get the desire of people. There's a lot of nonvoters out there.
6 Should witnesses have a formal mechanism for accountability? If yes, how would you envision such a system working?
@rishi556 That exists, they can get unvoted.
7 Since you became a witness, what impact have you made on the community that other witnesses have not done?
@rishi556 Can't say I've done anything special for this.
8 How do witnesses collaborate to solve community-wide issues, and what can be done to improve this process?
@rishi556 It's not just witnesses who collaborate on this. It's everyone, devs and community. Without the community giving their input and voting, there's no knowledge that change is needed at all.
9 Do you believe there should be a structured process for witness succession or rotation to encourage fresh ideas?
@rishi556 Again it exists via voting. Just have more users participate in the voting process, but they don't.
10 How do you handle criticism from the community, and how has it shaped your approach as a witness?
@rishi556 If it's something that I can do better, I improve. If it's something that I want to do better but can't because of external factors, I explain why. If their idea doesn't make sense, I try to explain why.
11 How do you see the role of witnesses evolving as the Hive platform grows and changes?
@rishi556 The core role will always stay the same, producing blocks and keeping the chain running. All other jobs are secondary and without that nothing else will work. That job won't go away and witnesses need to be focused on that first.
12 Some users feel witnesses hold too much power. What are your thoughts on decentralizing witness influence further?
@rishi556 How do they want to do that? Witnesses just decide to upgrade their software if they agree with the new changes. If they don't, they can not upgrade.
13 Since you became a witness, what are some of the challenges you have faced and how did you get past those challenges.
@rishi556 Running of the software can be a change when you run into new and weird issues but it can be debugged with the help of core devs.
14 As a witness or developer, how would you like to be remembered in the Hive community?
@rishi556 Just as someone who worked to make the platform a bit better.
It is so awesome finally having a chat with you @rishi556
Thanks so much for creating time for meet our Hive witness. Have a wonderful day 🤝🏻

NB: those were @rishi556 exact words to the interview questions. Nothing was changed.
