Starting Over, I Lost My Old Hive Account
1 comment
I joined Steemit when it was a thing in 2017; then, when a new CEO took over, that didn't sit well with bloggers, so they left. That's when I learned that Hive existed, and some of my posts were cross-posted between platforms.
My account had some waves; earnings picked up during lockdowns, then dropped from late 2022 into early 2023. Just as things began to improve, someone hacked my account. I logged on one day and saw my HIVE gone. The hacker started power downs on my account to collect the money. Eventually, they reset the keys and locked me out completely. I made this account in 2018 when downvote bots targeted me. Order of events: they somehow found my keys, got into my account, and collected my HIVE rewards, then started power downs. I canceled them before the payout. Then, the hacker reset my keys, and I lost control of my account.
I began blogging on these sites because of chronic illness, and blogging allows me to set my schedule and make my own adjustments. Something I won't have working for someone else. Due to how unpredictable my body is and how long my flares last, I physically can't commit to a 9-5. My account getting hacked and starting over was a huge pitfall.
I struggle to stand out in the crowd.
I reset the keys on this account. By the way, someone hacked the account before I could add a recovery person. Folks said the default account that's there, Steem, can't recover your account, so I used this one.
I post gaming content, but also other content like rail fanning, blogging, photography, etc to prevent folks from getting bored with one type of content.
I'm also writing my first book; I'll post updates about that as well.
That's why I still want to group YouTube or Facebook to not put my eggs in one basket.
Starting over's been difficult. I lost my old account early this year.
