Frosty?

The temperatures have been unusually low here in western Japan. This morning, January 7, we had a high of 4 degrees celcius and a low of -4. Depending on where you’re from, this may be cold, not so cold or frosty. There was a snowstorm warning. Schools canceled classes for the day. My kids got excited when they heard it would have snowed. They wanted to make a snowman. As cold as it was, there was no snow in my area but maybe in other areas. So, we didn’t get the chance to do that.

Some weeks ago, Christmas Day to be exact, I had planned to make Frosty-the snowman from fruits. The kids loved the idea. We didn’t know how it would have turned out. When it was near to completion, my younger kid shouted,”Look! Mommy made a penguin!” Interestingly, as soon as he said that, I saw a penguin. Where did Frosty go?

We used apples for the body, apple peel for the scarf, carrot for the nose, blackberries for the eyes and eyebrows, dragonfruit for the hands. We added some shaved ice to create a snowy effect.
Frosty or not, it became one of the centerpieces for our Christmas dinner. We enjoyed our meal.
