The culmination of a really busy week for me is hosting this workshop for newbies. It wasn't really easy to put together given that I travelled and had just a day to organize this. But the result is huge and I love the response from Invitees. A very big thanks to @ngobaby who helped to host this event. Great appreciation too to @bummblebee who invited 3 friends.

Below is a summary of the event in numbers
Newbies present: 7
HBD spent: 24
Transactions count: 10

Educating the new friends

Each workshop is designed to help invitees learn about Hive and SpendHBD. This particular workshop was no different. I made use of the presentation slide by the spendHBD admin to mentor newbies. When I looked at those that intended out of the 7, only 1 has basic crypto knowledge. So I had to explain the information about paying HBD, Hive blockchain and paying discounts in a way that is easier for a rookie to grasp.

The explanation also included how to download the Hive Keychain and Ecency apps. How to use the scan feature of Keychain to pay and how to use Diatriator App to claim discounts. There was also a live interaction section where invitees asked questions and got answers while the presentation was going on.

In the video, I was fielding questions from some of the newbies in the audience. They were trying to understand how the shops or businesses accepting HBD gets their money. Watch and see how I explained that.

One interesting thing was that at the end of the presentation, the friends present had the opportunity to try their first transaction. This is a huge possibility brought about by SpendHBD. Instead of looking for a business to do test-run, they are happy that everything could be done right on the spot.

One of the fastest learners in the class was @ebizcoach. He also asked the most questions. In the video below, watch and see as he scans to pay for the goods he had purchased after the presentation was over.

All the Newbies were happy to learn how to scan the QR code generated by the store and make payments. They were equally pleased too to claim their instant discounts. Very refreshing to see these new friends smile with happiness as they look at the discounts in their wallet.

Below are all the newbies that we onboarded: @ebizcoach, @uniquecash, @chidinma83, @haddynice, @onwuka, @chinedu133, @emmanuelai

After each presentation and before the newbies left, we snapped pictures for content and to create memories of the event. You can take a look below.

What next

SpendHBD is basically and onboarding mechanism for Hive. These new friends would have to set up their profiles and try to explore Hive. They will join the communities, start interacting and engaging with others too. Hopefully, they will eventually start adding Great value to Hive.

Once again, I have to appreciate all the friends that supported to make this workshop a success. Thank you all and we look forward to the next. We will get better with each workshop and events in the future.
