Down right cold these mornings. Managed to dunk under 0F as the sun was tinging the horizon with light and stayed there until mid morning. I had run the printer as we went to bed so the plate was ready first thing.
I swapped over to pink PLA but my doofy ass was in too much of a hurry and forgot to purge the old color first so it screwed up the print pretty bad. The first layer was trashed, stringy and mottled color. I was hoping to have it done so J could take it to school but had to reprint.
Our just below 0F. It's the same this morning but it IS under the cover of the house so likely it is colder out around the farm.
The second pink print came out WAY better.
With it so cold out it makes cooling the print off a snap. Less than a minute out the door and it popped off super easy.
The rest of the sets are ready for the kids. J will take them today for them.
I was pleased to see that the humidity in the filament cabinet was sitting below 10%, it keeps them nice and moisture free.
I had a roll of PETG that I wanted to use up and also the Z axis covers for the printer I wanted to get made. The covers work perfect and cover the ends of the axis screws so they stay cleaner. The slide got mounted to the dishwasher with a clean/dirty sheet in it.
I then made 3 gliders but the last one broke as I was taking it off the plate. It used up all but a foot of the roll of filament.
I got the next print running which was a 4+ hour run and then bundled up and headed out to see the creek. It was the same at the tunnel despite the night of 0F temps.
The surface of the water is frozen at least 100 ft back into the tunnel, but the water is flowing beneath the ice locked to the walls and pours out right there at the exit.
The ice in the creek is not solid at all. I went to step on it and it is pure slush. I grabbed a stick and stabbed the slush only to have the stick go straight to the bottom of the creek. Well below freezing for days now and THIS is the ice?
The ice dam down stream had been part of the backup that caused the overflow of the ice.
DAMN DAMN DAMN!!! The 3rd dart deflected off the other 2 otherwise I would have had the triple bull! SO DAMNED CLOSE!
And again couldn't sink the 3rd one in the slot.
@stryeyz took off work early but then we got the call about R so she went to pick him up from school. Over the afternoon dealt with him and eventually got him to wash his clothes. After 4pm the print got done, these are the new door hinges for my printer. The current hinges only allow the door to open about 100 degrees but these will allow fully opened.
It was school skate night at the roller rink and both boys were super stoked. A bunch of their friends were there and they were instantly out zooming around.
We left them to skate and headed up the road to Poole's for dinner for my hatching day.
Poole's is a great restaurant and bar in Wandermere and it's been a few years since we were last there.
Taco Tuesday is awesome and cheaper. Super tasty food and good beer. We took our time but still we done by about 7.
We headed back to the rink until it was time to head for home at 8.
Walked into the HSW cups being finished. The smaller ones a re a bit too small for much stuff but will find uses somewhere.
Headed out to soak for a while a bit later and managed about half an hour.
Meh sleep this morning, was up before 4am again. The printer was done overnight so have the next HSW panel started, will get the boys to school in a while, keep the fire going strong, 4 nations starts tonight, R has wrestling practice, and I'll have dinner ready early for him.
