There is one thing I always ask about when I get my hands on some lenses my brother owns.
"How is the bokeh on it?"
And no matter the answer, I will still go out and try to catch it. Sometimes it works, sometimes not so much. But I will try. Just to see the effect.

This is Carl Zeiss Planar 1.7 50mm on a Sony body and a field of fluffy dandelions. Dandelions are always a good object. The white ones in the background have a chance to create nice light spots, or bokeh, and the ones in the front are a good test for focus and sharpness.

When shooting with a lens wide open, I get this natural, light vignette effect, which I generally like and sometimes add later in Photoshop (mainly in black and white photos). Not this time. I didn't have to :)

You can read a very detailed review here if you are interested.

Not bad for not a macro lens...

Enough of the fluff, time for some more vivid colours. Just a few meters away there was a bunch of purple muscari flowers with some wild ground ivy (that's the smaller purple ones).

The blue and light green in the back is such a beautiful colour combo!

And lastly, a very random weed, probably from the mustard family. Again, a bug view because I wanted to catch the light coming through the pine branches. Yes... there is a big pine growing in the garden :) It is awesome!
