Hoy quiero que me acompañen a un destino Espectacular del pueblo de Caripe, Estado Monagas, que es nada más y nada menos que el "Salto, La Paila" que se encuentra ubicado en el Parque Nacional Alejandro de Humboldt y su entrada se encuentra justo en frente del Monumento Natural Cueva del Guacharo, en dónde se da inicio al sendero que te llevará hasta este famoso salto. Pero antes de dar inicio a esta aventura debemos anunciarnos con los entes de Inparques el cual tomara los datos de los visitantes y posteriormente asignarán un guía ecoturístico que se encuentra capacitado para acompañarnos durante todo el sendero.
Today I want you to accompany me to a spectacular destination in the town of Caripe, Monagas State, which is nothing more and nothing less than the "Salto, La Paila" which is located in the Alejandro de Humboldt National Park and its entrance is located right in front of the Natural Monument Cueva del Guacharo, where the trail that will take you to this famous waterfall begins. But before starting this adventure we must announce ourselves with the entities of Inparques which will take the data of visitors and then assign an ecotourism guide who is trained to accompany us throughout the trail.
Este senderismo estubo increíble pues no lo realice sola, estuve con la compañía de varios #hivers del Estado Monagas lo cual hizo que este experiencia estuviera más espectacular y así convertir un domingo ordinario en un domingo extraordinario ☺️ el recorrido comenzó poco después del medio día, luego de recibir las instrucciones por parte de la guía dimos inició al recorrido de este sendero que aproximadamente son unos 1200 metros. Entre las recomendaciones del guía estaba tener puestos zapatos antiresbalantes pues en el camino encontraremos con mucha humedad, también recomendó no extraer nada de la naturaleza y no dejar basura a nuestro paso, además de que nos indico que al momento de llegar al Salto, la Paila tendremos 30 minutos para disfrutar del agua, la naturaleza y retomar las energías para retornar, pues por ser fin de semana de vacaciones el lugar estaba muy concurrido.
This hike was incredible because I did not do it alone, I was with the company of several #hivers of the State of Monagas which made this experience more spectacular and thus turn an ordinary Sunday into an extraordinary Sunday ☺️ the tour began shortly after noon, after receiving the instructions from the guide we started the tour of this trail that is approximately 1200 meters. Among the recommendations of the guide was to wear non-slip shoes because on the way we will find a lot of humidity, he also recommended not to extract anything from nature and not to leave garbage in our path, in addition he indicated us that at the moment of arriving to Salto, la Paila we will have 30 minutes to enjoy the water, the nature and to retake the energies to return, because for being a vacation weekend the place was very crowded.
Y está aventura dió inicio,nuestra adorada guía se presentó y nos hablo un poco del la historia del Parque Nacional, también de la flora y la fauna del trayecto que estábamos por iniciar. El sendero hasta el Salto la Paila, está todo empedrado y señalado lo que hace que sea un recorrido fácil para cualquier persona que quiera realizarlo, desde que inicias pues escuchar el cantar de lo pajaritos y ver las piedras cubiertas de un moho verde y esponjoso. Además de ver cómo las raíces de los árboles abrazan a las piedras y todo esto es apenas al inicio de este sendero.
And this adventure began, our beloved guide introduced herself and told us a little about the history of the National Park, as well as the flora and fauna of the trail we were about to start. The trail to the Salto la Paila, is all paved and marked which makes it an easy walk for anyone who wants to do it, since you start because you hear the singing of the birds and see the stones covered with a green and fluffy mold. In addition to seeing how the roots of the trees embrace the stones and all this is just at the beginning of this trail.
Durante todo el recorrido siempre llevamos al río a mano izquierda como si fuera guiando durante todo el sendero, y aquí vamos nosotros disfrutando de toda esta naturaleza pura, recargado nuestros pulmones de buen oxígeno, en una parte del trayecto nos encontramos con algunos escalones que facilitan la subida.
During the entire route we always take the river on the left hand side as if it were guiding us throughout the trail, and here we go enjoying all this pure nature, recharging our lungs with good oxygen, in a part of the route we find some steps that facilitate the ascent.
En este recorrido aprendí muchas cosas que desconocía, pues cada guia tiene su manera de explicar el recorrido, en este punto nuestra guía se detuvo para mostrarnos un árbol que era muy común en este sendero, se trataba de un árbol que en su estructura y forma de las hojas es muy parecido al árbol de cacao, incluso su fruto es como una maraca de cacao pero en versión miniatura, este árbol se llama **cacao de montaña** y es muy común en el cerro de Turimiquire,que es un cerro del Estado Monagas.
At this point our guide stopped to show us a tree that was very common on this trail, it was a tree that in its structure and shape of the leaves is very similar to the cocoa tree, even if the fruit is like a cocoa maraca but in miniature version, this tree is called **mountain cocoa** and is very common in the hill of Turimiquire, which is a hill in the state of Monagas.
A medida que vamos avanzando en este recorrido nos encontramos con estos banquitos que parecieran sacados de un cuento de hadas 🧚♀️ pues me parecieron demasiados cuchis, así como para sentarse a meditar o a disfrutar del silencio que nos regala la naturaleza, pues esto es lo que me imaginé jejeje.
As we move along this route we find these benches that seem to be taken from a fairy tale 🧚♀️ because they seemed to me too spooky, as well as to sit and meditate or enjoy the silence that nature gives us, because this is what I imagined hehehehe.
Luego de esto nuestra guía nos hablo del árbol bucare que también es muy frecuente en este recorrido,y pues nos indica que nos oriundos de la zona sino que fueron traídos y sembrados por los primeros colonizadores para dar sombra a las siembras de café y cacao, pues antes de ser declarado Parque Nacional aquí habían haciendas de cacao y café ya que debido al clima y altitud de la zona se producían muy bien, y estos árboles de bucare fueron sembrados para proteger estos cultivos.
After this our guide told us about the bucare tree that is also very common in this tour, and then tells us that we are not native to the area but were brought and planted by the first settlers to shade the coffee and cocoa plantations, because before being declared a National Park here were cocoa and coffee farms because due to the climate and altitude of the area were produced very well, and these bucare trees were planted to protect these crops.
Nuestro recorrido continua, y seguimos avanzando y admirando la naturaleza,yo iba encantada ya había tenido la oportunidad de realizar este sendero antes, pero cada vez es como si fuera la primera vez 😊 también en este parque Nacional nos estamos con formaciones rocas calizas que son rocas sedimentarias no originarias de la zana, que están allí hace millones y millones de años debido a todos los cambios que han ocurrido en el continente, su color es gris oscuro casi llegando al color negro, la verdad es una belleza poder ver este tipo de rocas en medio de esta zona montañosa.
Our tour continues, and we continue advancing and admiring nature, I was delighted I had already had the opportunity to make this path before, but each time it is as if it were the first time 😊 also in this National Park we are with limestone rock formations that are sedimentary rocks not originally from the zana, which are there millions and millions of years ago due to all the changes that have occurred on the continent, its color is dark gray almost reaching the black color, the truth is a beauty to see this type of rocks in the middle of this mountainous area.
Una de las cosas que había olvidado de mi último recorrido por este sendero es que había que cruzar un mini riachuelo que tena el paso muy pero muy babosos, y apesar que use unas botas para este recorrido no tenía mucha confianza en ellas pues ya me había resbalado sin llegar a perder el equilibrio pero igual sentí un poco se susto al cruzar este paso pues lo que seguía era un precipicio bien pronunciado jejejeje así que allí me fijé muy bien donde piso la guía para yo también hacerlo jejejeje estaba un poco asustada aunque mis compañeros pensaron que era echando broma. 🙃
One of the things I had forgotten about my last trip on this trail is that I had to cross a mini creek that had a very slimy step, and although I used boots for this trip I was not very confident in them because I had already slipped without losing my balance but I still felt a little scared to cross this step because what followed was a steep cliff hehehehehehe so there I looked very well where I stepped the guide to also do it hehehehehehe I was a little scared but my companions thought I was joking. 🙃
Desde este punto podemos ver las paredes de roca que caracterizan al Salto la Paila, es bastante emocionante llegar al destino propuesto y con las energías bien cargadas pues fue una caminata de Próximamente 40 minutos, en dónde se disfruto de la naturaleza y nuestra amable guía aclaro las dudas de algunos y también nos conto muchas cosas basada en su experiencia dando estos recorridos.
From this point we can see the rock walls that characterize the Salto la Paila, it is quite exciting to reach the proposed destination and with the energies well charged because it was a walk of about 40 minutes, where we enjoyed nature and our friendly guide clarified the doubts of some and also told us many things based on his experience giving these tours.
Al llegar mi sorpresa fue que había muchas personas, las veces que había idos solo eran dos o tres personas las que te podías encontrar en el salto, así que a mí me sorprendió mucho ver a tantas personas.
When I arrived my surprise was that there were many people, the times I had gone there were only two or three people that you could find in the jump, so I was very surprised to see so many people.
Este salto tiene una altura de 45 metros aproximadamente de dónde se desprende una caída de agua que cae en una poza formada a los pies de la pared de roca no tan profunda, en dónde el agua se desborda y da continuidad al río que anteriormente les dije pasada justo a un lado de la caminería. Está agua es muy fría solo para valientes jejejeje y la pared por dónde se desliza es imponente color negruzca brillante y el agua cayendo se ve como la delicadeza de un velo de novia, es un lugar espectacular para conectar con la naturaleza y recargar las energías y si te echas un baño en sus aguas sales renovado jejeje.
This waterfall has a height of approximately 45 meters from where a waterfall falls into a pool formed at the foot of the rock wall not so deep, where the water overflows and gives continuity to the river that previously I told you passed just to one side of the walkway. This water is very cold only for the brave hehehehehehe and the wall where it slides is imposing shiny blackish color and the falling water looks like the delicacy of a bridal veil, is a spectacular place to connect with nature and recharge your energies and if you take a bath in its waters you come out renewed hehehehehe.
