Freewrite - “Contemporary”

Theodore had little in common with his contemporaries. He was meant for another time and had known this since boyhood. But what is a man to do when trapped in an era so ill-suited to his hopes, dreams and his very temperament?
Worst yet, he didn't have a clue about science so the idea of building a time machine was absolutely laughable to him on days when it didn't make him want to cry. He was a man stuck hundreds of years before the 21st century who wanted more than anything to see what the future would be.
So when he ventured into the forest one day and found a swirling electrical vortex in a cave, he never stopped to think. Did the sparks melt human flesh? Were there space piranhas on the other side? Was it a direct entry point to Tartarus or some other Hell? Was it the final undeniable proof that he had gone mad?
He simply leapt.

Close call but I got this post written and posted in time. I need to start drawing soon though…
