El día de hoy quiero platicarles sobre mi experiencia en el último Meetu del año realizado en Bitcoin Embassy Bar. Desde hace más de dos años quería visitar este lugar, pero por la pandemia y otras razones había sido algo complicado. Este bar está en la Ciudad de México y yo vivo en otro estado que se encuentra como a dos horas de ahí. Desde hace más de un mes había prometido que iba a ir al menos a un meetup antes de que finalizara al año, así que el día de ayer decidí viajar a la Ciudad de México.

Today, I want to tell you about my experience at the last Meetup of the year held at Bitcoin Embassy Bar. I have wanted to visit this place for more than two years, but it has been somewhat complicated due to the pandemic and other reasons. This bar is in Mexico City, and I live in another state, about two hours away. For over a month, I had promised to attend at least one meetup before the end of the year, so yesterday, I decided to travel to Mexico City.
Salí de casa alrededor de medio día, con la intención de llegar a buena hora a la Ciudad de México. La verdad no sabía si iba a haber mucho tráfico o no, y soy de las personas que generalmente se les hace temprano cuando viaja a sitios lejanos. Tomé el autobús a la una de la tarde y a las 3:15 ya me encontraba en la terminal de autobuses de la CDMX.
I left home around noon, intending to arrive in Mexico City at a good time. I didn't know if there would be a lot of traffic, and I usually get there early when traveling to faraway places. I took the bus at one o'clock in the afternoon, and at 3:15, I was already at the bus terminal in Mexico City.
La terminal de autobuses se llama Taxqueña y esa también es la primera parada de la línea dos del metro. Me quedé de ver con @shadowmyst a las 4:00 o 5:00 PM en el metro "Revolución", pero se me hizo algo temprano y cuando llegué Shadow seguía en su casa. Después de esperar un poco dentro de la terminal, me encontré con Shadow en una de las avenidas más importantes de la ciudad y de ahí viajamos juntos en un Uber a Bitcoin Embassy Bar.
The bus terminal is called Taxqueña, and that's also the first stop of the metro line. I was supposed to meet @shadowmyst at 4:00 or 5:00 PM at metro "Revolución", but it was a little early, and when I arrived, Shadow was still home. After waiting a bit inside the terminal, I met Shadow in one of the city's most important avenues, and from there, we traveled in an Uber to Bitcoin Embassy Bar.
La reunión empezó a las 7:00 PM y terminó cerca de las 11:00 PM. Tengo un primo que vive allá, pero justo en estos días está trabajando en otra ciudad, así que decidí rentar un Airbnb que estaba literalmente a contra esquina del bar. Así que estuvo genial y pude disfrutar más del evento porque no estaba con el estrés de tener que viajar de noche en una ciudad grande.
The meeting started at 7:00 PM and ended around 11:00 PM. I have a cousin who lives there, but he is working in another city these days, so I decided to rent an Airbnb right around the corner from the bar. So it was great, and I could enjoy the event more because I wasn't under the stress of traveling at night in a big city.
Esta fue la primera vez que vi a Shadow en persona. Nos conocemos desde Steem, es decir, desde el 2018 y empezamos a hablar más a partir del 2020. El año pasado empezamos él Pódcast @criptocuates y aunque estos últimos meses hemos estado un poco inactivos, seguiremos creando episodios al menos una o dos veces al mes. Esperamos poder hacerlos más seguido.
This was the first time I saw Shadow in person. We've known each other since Steem, that is, since 2018, and we started talking more in 2020. Last year we started him Pódcast @criptocuates, and although these last few months we have been a bit inactive, we will continue to create episodes at least once or twice a month. We hope to be able to do them more often.

Dato curioso, Shadow es bastante alto, mide 1.94 metros.
Fun fact, Shadow is quite tall, standing at 1.94 meters.
Llegamos al bar como a las 6:00 PM y yo no había comido, solamente desayuné antes de salir de casa. Nos pedimos una pizza y una baguette para los dos y la verdad estuvieron muy ricas. Obviamente, este lugar acepta criptomonedas como método de pago y a pesar de que no aceptan HIVE o HBD, sí pudimos pagar de manera indirecta por medio de la app de v4v.
We arrived at the bar around 6:00 PM, and I had not eaten. I only had breakfast before leaving home. We ordered a pizza and a baguette for both of us, which were really good. This place accepts cryptocurrencies as a payment method, and although they do not accept HIVE or HBD, we could pay indirectly through the v4v app.

Bitcoin Embassy Bar es un sitio donde las personas pueden ir a aprender sobre criptomonedas y también conocer a otros entusiastas. Algo genial que tiene este lugar es un cajero Bitcoin, donde puedes comprar y vender BTC. Había escuchado mucho de ellos, pero nunca había usado uno, ni siquiera los había visto en vivo. Decidí comprar 500 pesos en Bitcoin, más o menos 25 dólares.
Bitcoin Embassy Bar is where people can learn about cryptocurrencies and meet other enthusiasts. One cool thing this place has is a Bitcoin ATM, where you can buy and sell BTC. I had heard a lot about them but never used one or even seen them live. I decided to buy 500 pesos in Bitcoin, more or less 25 dollars.

En el evento pudimos conocer a muchas personas. Shadow y yo les platicamos sobre Hive y a la gran mayoría se les hizo un proyecto muy interesante. Muchos de ellos ya tienen un camino recorrido en el mundo cripto y nos hicieron algunas preguntas un tanto técnicas. Yo tenía el miedo de encontrarme con algún maximalista tóxico, pero la verdad todos fueron muy buena onda.
Platicamos de lo que está ocurriendo en el mundo critpo y tuvimos un buen debate de lo que pensamos que puede pasar en un futuro. Con uno de los asistentes, llegamos a la conclusión que actualmente existen muchos proyectos y cada uno tiene más proyectos dentro, como es el caso de Hive. Esto puede ser un poco abrumador para los que aún no encuentran su nicho y no saben muy bien qué camino seguir. Yo le platiqué que en Hive ya encontré lo que estaba buscando y que seguiremos trabajando para que crezca.
At the event, we were able to meet many people. Shadow and I told them about Hive, and most of them found it a very interesting project. Many of them already have a background in the crypto world and asked us some technical questions. I was afraid of meeting some toxic maximalist, but the truth is that everyone was very cool.
We talked about what is happening in the crypto world and discussed what we think may happen in the future. With one of the attendees, we concluded that currently, there are many projects, and each one has more projects inside, as is the case of Hive. This can be overwhelming for those who have not yet found their niche and do not know which path to follow. I told him that I had already found what I was looking for in Hive and that we would continue working to make it grow.
