Philippine Mackerel Tuna (Tulingan)

I got a visit once again from my favorite fresh sea food vendor. She brought me the fresh catch of the day, the Philippine mackerel tuna or what we call Tulingan.

Placed inside a styrofoam box are the freshest tulingans in town. Priced at 160 pesos per kilo.

Manang Vendor has a special offer. She cleans the tuna for you. Taking away the gills & insrestines of the fish and preparing it for cooking already. She does this for free.

Now we will cook our Tulingan with coconut milk or what we call Ginataang Tulingan. Just put together vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, onions, kamias, mustard leaf, salt & pepper, fish sauce, chili and of course fresh coconut milk. Bring it to a boil for about 15-20 minutes and you'll have this sumptuous meal

Thanks to my regular vendor on wheels who has now became my special friend during this pandemic. She makes things easier for us. She is a Frontliner in her own special way that deserves to be called a modern day hero !
