When, back in 1976, the ferry line between Lepetane and Kamenari started operating, on the shortest distance, Veriga, in the Bay of Kotor, the road, which until then was the only option for getting from Tivat to Herceg Novi, began to lose its importance.
A 30 km shorter route and about 45 minutes of time saving was enough to ensure that Risan, Perast and Morinj are no longer in the way of a large number of passers-by.
Decades ago, these places remained "forgotten".

Which is not so bad in the age of mass tourism.

Driving from Herceg Novi, via Morinj, we reached the parking lot where we could leave the car and start walking around Perast.

The city of Perast, a place under the protection of UNESCO, experienced its heyday under the Republic of Venice, when the city was ruled by 12 noble families, so it is not surprising that even today there are baroque palaces in the city (as many as 19 of them), which have been reconstructed and today represent museums, hotels or private residences.

One of those palaces, which were built in the 17th and 18th centuries. century, they were renovated several times, and at the end of the 20th century, they were transformed into the Heritage Grand Hotel.

On the seashore, right next to the beach, there is a part of the beach with a swimming pool, which is only available to hotel guests.

Further down the promenade, you come across the square where the church of St. Nicholas is located. The church and the 55m high bell tower from the 17th century dominate this place.

The whole of Perast is an open-air museum and if you look at any house, you could hear a lot of stories about it, because Perast was an important city during the Venetian Republic, it was a naval partner and a very strong ally in the fight against the Ottoman Empire.

Walking through the streets of this place brought me great pleasure, and the real refreshment came when I found a beach where I could spend a few hours relaxing in peace and quiet.
