OK Hive Photography Lovers I have to own up to being a bit over zealous with the credit card the other day when I ordered the Body Cap 18mm f6.3 for my Olympus Pen.
What caught my eye was the extreme fisheye 4mm f2.8 another manual lens from 7Artisans.
A bit more expensive than the 18mm F6.3 at around $150 but it’s a very interesting chunk of glass 7 elements and a 225º viewing angle, more of that later, the dome front lens gives you some idea it’s going to be a bit different.
I ordered direct of the 7Artisans website the lens arrived with in the week at the same time as the body cap. Once again I’m really impressed with the build quality of the lens both the focus ring and aperture ring are really very smooth and the pip on the aperture ring makes it easy to find and adjust.
Enough of the waffle what about using the lens? Well you need to be a bit careful because 225º angle of view it’s easy to get things you don’t want in frame. Using it on my OMD E-M1
Fingers and even the grip get caught at the edges.
Watch the feet too so the camera needs to be held a bit away from your body.
I have a feeling that my trusty old OMD E-M5 is going to be the go to camera for this lens.
Without the add on grip fingers are well out of the way.
But you still need to be careful with you body position this is what you get for leaning in a bit close.
So Hivers if your after some interesting fully round shots the 7Artisans 4mm f2.8 could be the lens for you check out their website it does come with other mounts and not just the M4/3.
