Dress the way you want to be addressed is a common saying that I am sure most of us have heard.

How we dress plays a vital role in our lives, just like the saying "you are what you wear" holds some truth. When it comes to fashion, it could actually mean different things to different people. To me, fashion is not just about making a good impression; it is also about wearing my clothes with confidence without worrying about what people think and projecting my unique style while at it because it makes me feel good.

My style of dressing reflects my personality. Hence, I prefer to wear what suits me and I feel comfortable wearing. I do not jump on trends when it comes to the way I dress. As a lady, it is safe to say I have practically every type of dress, ranging from casuals to professional (corporate) wears to native wears, event clothes, and all sorts of in-between clothes. When I am away from work, I am more of a casual-wear kind of person.

When it comes to picking out what I wear most times, there is always a debate going on in my head about what to wear, not because I have too many clothes but because I am very particular about figuring out what to wear for different types of occasions. What I wear depends on so many factors, such as the type of occasion, the venue, the time of day, the weather, and the caliber of people attending it (kids, youths, or the elderly).

Talking about the caliber of people. I was invited to a burial ceremony some weeks ago; it was a Yoruba burial, to be precise. It was my first time attending one, so I wore a short black dress with a touch of flowering Ankara design on it since it was a burial (where I come from, Plateau State, burial ceremonies are usually sober, so picking a black dress was perfect, so I thought). On getting to the venue, I was beyond shocked😂 because it looked more like a wedding celebration to me than a burial ceremony, but fortunately for me, my hair was neatly styled, I was on braids, and I wore a good shoe (I am a lover of shoes), so I was able to blend in.

I have arranged my clothes in such a way that I can easily find what I am looking for without turning my wardrobe upside down, but that still does not help me in making swift decisions🤦, and it is even more funny because where I work as an educator, we have a dress code for each day, but it is always a battle for me to pick out what to wear😔. Sometimes I sit and just stare for a while. This is because I have more than just a pair for each day of the week, and on Fridays I am more dramatic since I have tons of native attire😂.

Due to my indecisive nature when it comes to picking out what to wear, I ensure I do that the night before to avoid wasting time in the morning. So far, I've discovered that prior planning the day before has been quite helpful🤗.
