OC PORTRAIT | BELLANERO (MAGAZINE COVER STYLE) + process material

Hello Hivean Folka.
I hope you're all doing alright and fine on this Saturday.

This was a labor of love for me. An absolute joy to work on.
As mentioned before, I had a stint with some meningitis and was gone for a while. I'm on the mend and feeling alright apart from some mild wheezy-ness and congestion.
Anyway, that's that.

PROCESS MATERIAL
Sketches
I don't know what to say either than that these are sketches... Oh wait!
I've been doing face studies and I've incorporated that into my process to help me get a hold on my inability to draw mature looking women.

I added some hair and middle-value grey with a little darker gradation at the bottom.
I can't stress this enough, never paint over a 100% white as background.

I then went on to apply the shadow values and gradually saturating and lowering the exposure. Once the shadows are done, I move on to the highlights but leave any reflective specular light until the very last moment.

Now here's where I... "cheat". All the work up until this point has been done on my piece of trash Samsung. I then save the image as a flattened PSD and move on over to Clip Studio where I apply a gradient map on the skin. A color overlay will go over the eyes, hair clips, and the metal "choker".
We round the whole thing off with the reflective light.

Tools:
