About Me and My Commitment To The Hive Blockchain

https://s2.loli.net/2023/12/25/UvqewidgIYb1QEH.jpg

Welcome to my announcement post. Here I will share a few things about me and why Hive is an awesome blockchain. I have been active on the blockchain for 5 years now and will be 6 in April 2024. For all of that time, I have been a big #splinterlands player and still am to this day, When I first started one of the main attractions was a local meetup that happens every month at a local watering hole here in Adelaide, and still does by the way. The next one will be in Jan 2024.

I have always been interested in Technology, from building radios and amplifiers to all sorts of computer systems and software. So getting into crypto was the next step for me, bitcoin to start with, then steem then Hive.
But hive is more than just a crypto coin, we are happy when the price goes up, but the many different ways you have to earn more coins are what really stands out from the normal buy and hold that seems to be what people think crypto coins are all about.

Most people say that they have made a lot of friends on the blockchain and I can see why, we keep the same identity that we made from the start and because it's a relatively small space we do get to know each other well. Plus the community that you can join depends on your interests.

I also have a habit of powering up some hive every day and posting an inspirational quote on the #inleo threads with the amount I powered up that day. I have also been powering up 1000 hives for the monthly #hpud for the last five or six months, the goal here is to grow my stake.

Launching My Hive Witness Node

After many months of research and testing, I have decided to put my very own witness node into live mode and register it on the blockchain, this is by no means an easy decision because before I made it live I have to ensure that the server was capable of handling the blockchain and this is the case. Also, I needed stable power and fast and reliable internet, all boxes are checked now.

The decentralization of the blockchain is important to many and I do get asked the question "Where is the witness node hosted" The answer is: This server is Hosted in a secret bunker hidden in Adelaide, South Australia. The first one in Adelaide as far as I know.

We have a great community here down under, from a lively Hive Australia discord group to Splinterland Gulds and many other Australian communities, gardening, photography music, and a lot more, We are very lucky to have each other, If you are ever down this way on holiday or visiting, give us a shout out and we will welcome all our hive friends, No Worries.

I have received a lot of feedback and support over the years and I want to be able to give something back, running and operating a hive witness node is a privilege and I will do my best to keep it that way.

Let Talk About The Server Specs

  • CPU is a Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8700 CPU @ 3.20GHz It's a bit dated by modern standards but has a respectable 6 cores and 12 threads, it Benchmarks at 349,567 which puts it in the top 87% on the benchmarks site, based on user-submitted tests—more than enough to handle the task.

  • 1 TB SSD Hard Drive Crucial MX500 This drive has good speed and reliability but the main reason was the 5-year warranty, I figured they wouldn't do that if they didn't have confidence in the drive.

  • The last spec is the System Memory 32GB Total comprising of 2 x 16GB DIMM DDR4 Synchronous 2666 MHz (0.4 ns) I have space on the Mobo to add more if the need arises, but this seems to be enough for now.

  • Software is Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS and the Witness install is running on Docker and Hive-in-a-box published by @someguy123 if you want to follow an excellent tutorial I recommend you follow this one How To Set Up A Hive Witness Using HIAB At Version 1.27.2 @rissi556 is one of the most helpful Hivers around. The final part is the price feed again this is a simple docker container you can get from here Hive Feed JS

This is not my witness server, but I did work on these IBM RS/6000's

The Hive Voting System and How You Are Part of It

The Hive blockchain uses a different kind of voting system called DPOS (Delegated-prof-of-stake), this is Unlike bitcoin that uses POW (prof-of-work) It allows stakeholders like you to cast your vote power to trustworthy individuals called witnesses, who validate transactions and maintain the blockchain. Some say it's a groundbreaking advancement in decentralised governance.

So I am here to ask for your trust and support, as your witness could you send me a vote? What can you expect from me? well, a couple of things come to mind transparency and accountability. I will keep you informed about my activities and progress, I will post regular reports and engage with any questions you may have.

With each hivean having 30 votes, I want you to send one to me, By voting for me, you can trust that I will deliver on my promises. Thank you for your consideration.

How To Vote

There are several ways to cast a vote, the simplest is to use this website https://vote.hive.uno/@ctrpch you just add your hive user name in the box and sign with keychain or HiveSigner.
