Have you ever had a gut feeling that something good was about to happen, and it actually did?

The universe had already started setting up the plot twist days earlier, I just didn’t realize it yet.

Deciding which Adidas jersey to wear for the party

A few days before our year-end party, Spain had just won the UEFA Women’s Nations League 2025. Funny enough, I had already bought the Spain football jersey from Adidas (the exact same jersey they wore) for our party’s sports theme days before! I even joked to my partner 'we won!!' as if I had anything to do with Spain’s victory 😂 But the coincidence made me laugh and it gave me this thought.. I think I’m gonna win something, too.

Do you believe in lucky charms?

I even told my partner and my parents that I felt like I’d win something in the year-end party's raffle too. They just laughed since luck usually isn’t on my side 😂

Not that I was eyeing much. I actually had most of the items on the list except the coffee maker. That one I loved to have but could never justify buying for myself 🙈 Every time I thought about buying it, I can hear the responsible part of me whispering Do you really need it? and You already have other coffee makers at home. So I kept putting it off.

Saturday morning, before the party, I was looking for a tote enough to carry the gifts I prepared for my colleagues. I even thought, half-jokingly, that I should bring a bigger tote because, obviously, I was going to win something and needed a bag to put it. Well, I settled for a medium tote.

When the raffle started, I wasn’t even paying full attention. My mind was floating somewhere between the party's noise, the food, and my seatmates’ chats. Then suddenly, my name was called!

A Starbucks gift certificate.

I was really thinking maybe Spain did pass me their lucky energy through that jersey when I was on stage, claiming the GC. I was happy! My little lucky streak fulfilled. And yes, the tote I brought with me is perfect! The GC fits since it's just small.

But then... the universe was not yet done with its comedic timing.

My name was called again.
For the coffee machine!

this came home with me, thanks to our year-end party raffle! ✨

Laughing and still shocked because I was called, again!, I made my way to the stage to claim the coffee machine. My colleagues even teased me like I had become the lucky one that night, and yes, it really felt like it.

...but hey, the tote I brought was too small for the coffee machine 😂 I really should've brought a bigger one!

I had to choose between the two prizes. I didn’t even hesitate. I handed back the Starbucks GC and picked the coffee machine.

The Starbucks GC would’ve gotten me only one coffee and one pastry. Meanwhile, the coffee machine would live with me, fuel my work from home days, and probably become my most-used appliance 😊

If you won multiple prizes just like me, how would you decide which one to keep?

The universe had just handed me a confirmation that Saturday night that good things can really happen out of nowhere 😁

I was so happy I immediately messaged my parents and my partner with “I KNEW I’D WIN!!!”

Now I’m sitting here and wondering… should I try betting on the lotto next and should I wear the Spain jersey while I do it? 😂

I appreciate you reading this all the way through 💖 Thanks for your time!
