Did you know that Chrome browser has many problems, and the biggest one is tracking?

Chrome tracks everything about you: your browsing history, location, and login information, and sends all your data to Google.

The main way Chrome tracks you is by “tracking cookies,” a unique string of letters and numbers to help the websites identify and remember you. These allow Chrome to know what websites you browsed.

Not only Chrome is tracking your activity but also many web platforms, such as Facebook, Google, Microsoft, and Amazon. These platforms have their tracking pixels embedded in most of the websites you visit.

Both tracking cookies and tracking pixels can gather a lot of information about you, including
· The pages you viewed
· Your activities during the session
· What ads you click on
· The type of device you use
· What time you visited
· Your IP addresses

Chrome doesn’t block these tracking pixels. Chrome has a feature to “do not track,” but it’s impractical because most websites don’t change their behaviour when they receive a ‘Do Not Track” request:

Is There a Better Alternative to Chrome?

An alternative browser with enhanced privacy protection is Brave. You can download it here: https://brave.com/
Brave is built on top of Chromium, the same foundation as used to build Chrome, but all the tracking is cut out, and all privacy-harming features are disabled from the source code to enhance privacy. Here’s a link that goes over the list of tracking features that Brave disabled.

About Brave:

· Brave protects your privacy by blocking all the third-party cookies and removing all tracking-related identifiers that allow Facebook or Google to learn more about you and your behaviour on the web.
· It’s straightforward to migrate from Chrome to Brave as you can import all your bookmarks, passwords and all Chrome extensions are compatible with Brave.
· Brave natively blocks all the advertisements, and plus you can also earn some money in cryptocurrency.
· Brave is operated by a private company founded by Brendan Eich and Brian Bondy. They were previously involved in developing the Mozilla project famous for Firefox. Although Brave Inc. is a privately owned company, Brave Browser is open source, and anyone can copy the project and make their version of Brave Browser.

How Can You Earn Money with Brave?

Brave introduced an alternative to traditional advertising called Brave Rewards, which is optional for users. To receive brave rewards, users can opt in to see some non-invasive ads. If you decide to opt-in, you can configure how many ads you see per hour.

To maximize user, publisher and advertiser value, the ads are targeted. However, the way it works is entirely different from Chrome: with Brave Ads, your privacy is protected. Brave Ads are matched to you directly and anonymously based on the websites you visited. Your personal information and browsing history never leave your device; Brave servers don’t have access to any identifiable user data. Users receive 70% of the ad revenue, and 30% goes to Brave to support further development.
The rewards are paid in a cryptocurrency called Basic Attention Token (BAT), which is run on the Ethereum blockchain. They are paid every month, and you can exchange them for dollars or any other fiat currency.

Will this affect publishers and content creators who rely on ads for income and who don’t receive ad revenue on Brave?

The short answer is yes. Publishers and content creators only get rewarded when a user sends them a tip in BAT tokens: go to the content creator you enjoy -> click on the triangle icon -> choose the amount you want to tip.

Another way you could support a content creator is by opting in to receive Brave and selecting a feature to Auto-Contribute a portion of your Brave Rewards to any registered publisher or content creator you have read or watched; Brave anonymously calculates the amount of attention you give the sites you visit and then distributes your contribution accordingly.
