Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has emerged at the center of a politically charged effort to re-examine the 2020 U.S. presidential election, drawing fierce debate all over the internet today as pictures surfaced of Gabbard at the Fulton County elections department in Georgia.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, Gabbard has spent several months probing alleged irregularities in the 2020 election which Donald Trump lost to Joe Biden. This review includes reviewing voting machine data and swing state results. The inquiry, which WSJ describes as a focus of her national-security agenda, is unmatched in scale and scope among current intelligence efforts.

The intensity of Gabbard’s involvement was underscored on January 28 when she was present at an FBI raid on the Fulton County election office, hic is part of FBIs investigation into possible violations of election record-keeping laws tied to the 2020 vote. Traditionally, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) focuses on foreign threats, not domestic law enforcement actions. That’s why Gabbard’s presence drew criticism. An administration official defended her participation, saying Gabbard’s role includes coordinating intelligence related to election infrastructure and threats. But senior Democrats including Senate Intelligence Committee ranking member Sen. Mark Warner have demanded explanations, questioning whether her involvement in a domestic law enforcement action is appropriate.

I think Gabbard’s actions blur the line between intelligence work and political advocacy. Her presence at the raid raises serious questions in my mind. Either she believes there is a genuine foreign intelligence element which would legally require notification to congressional intelligence committees or she is injecting the U.S. intelligence community into a partisan effort tied to disputed theories about the 2020 election. When you add this to the renewed federal scrutiny into election I feel like there's something fishy going on for the midterms. I get a feeling our intelligence apparatus is being used in pursuit of politically charged domestic objectives that we are going to have to witness as they unfold...
