When Things Change

Hello Hivers here we are another weekend comes to a close. I've let some of you know I'm going on vacation soon. So this weekend I had some delivery driving goals.
My goals were to take care of and get somethings with my driving earnings before I go on vacation. I plan on a going on road trip to South Dakota. Number one is to get two new front tires for the car and an oil change. The tires have served there purpose and it's just too unsafe driving on them for the trip I'm going to make. Number two is to obtain non resident fishing licenses, this will be about $140. Son is no longer young enough to fish for free so I have to get two. Number three is to get some play money. Need money for gas, food, a few keep sakes and national/state park fees.So let me take you from Friday thru Sunday.
Well Friday I drove from 5 p.m. to about 8:30 p.m. I earned around $80 which isn't horrible. I had one delivery that held me up for a good 30 minutes. Let me tell you a little bit about it.
I delivered to someone out in the boonies and my phone had no reception. I learned with Uber Eats you can't skip to the next delivery until the one your on is completed in the App. With DoorDash you can call them to correct it while doing the next delivery. So I had no choice but to wait on hold for what seemed forever until I got an agent. I left the groceries with customer to not inconvenience them. I did learn a lesson here though, take the barcode label with you. I could have scanned it when I got service again on my phone. Now it's not full proof that it will work but it may. I'm sure it will happen again. This little incident demotivated me a bit and I ended my delivery driving after delivering the last order in my car.
Saturday I delivered pretty much all day. I ended with about $300 in earnings. It didn't feel like it because there were a lot of slow points throughout the day. If your wondering about the two delivery applications, I did a little over $200 with DoorDash and just under $100 with Uber Eats.
Sunday morning what a hall. I started at 7 a.m. and just before 9:00 a.m. I almost at $80. I had to do most of my delivering in another area because DoorDash had no availability in my local area. Uber saved the morning as all of that nearly $80 were there orders. I got DoorDash orders during that time but they were all low ball offers. After 9:00 I got three orders in row that totaled just over $20 for DoorDash.
After that it went silent for a bit. I thought of stopping to get breakfast than I got order, haha. So I ended up making close to a total of $140. I stopped driving around 11:30 because it was pouring rain. No fun getting wet especially since I was only wearing shorts and a short sleeve shirt. So just over $100 with Uber Eats and close to $40 with DoorDash. I made 8 deliveries with Uber Eats today and this brought me to the next tier of rewards. I'll have to check out later what rewards I have unlocked. On my drive home I was hydroplaning on the interstate so I decided to get those new tires today. I may have had these tires for a bit too long, haha.
Before getting tires I went home. I had a small lunch nothing worth flexing. Alright it was 8 fried ravolis with some marinara sauce. Basically an appetizer for lunch, just wasn't all that hungry. I also got a text from sister saying she gave me the wrong week she was off. So now I'll be going on vacation a week later. My employer is pretty lenient and I should be able to push my leave back. It actually works out better as I had something that was going to make me delay my trip by a day.
Looking at it rain I thought why not do a little me time the rest of the day. No reason to be in a hurry to get things accomplished because I have a little more time now. First up was getting a hair cut.
Wow 83 minute wait time at a place I usually get a haircut at and I was number 33 in the que. I did call some other places and there were no appointment times. I got in about 110 minutes later, hey it's an estimate. That place cuts some hair right? Alright here's my dew below.
After haircut I was feeling good and thought why not stop by the nail shop for a pedicure. I arrive and find out two things. One is there credit card machine is broken, cash only. I had tip amount but not the cash for the total. Second thing is there was a 30 minute wait time.
This just meant two things for me. I have to get cash and I can drop my car off to get new tires. I made it back to the nail shop in about 30 minutes after going to ATM and dropping my car off. The tire shop is about 10 minute walk away. The rain has stopped but I had a jacket just in case.
I was told it would take about two hours for my car to get done. This time works out well as I need to shop for somethings for the trip as well. Tire shop is in a supermarket, for those living in the States it's Walmart. A very good reason I didn't get an oil change here.
Oh so relaxing, both the car and myself have good treads now, lol. I think the last time I did this was about two months ago. I ended up getting the deluxe option. It included lotion massage, paraffin wax, and a hot stones massage. Oh the feet are really smooth now and I can't help to feel a bit new. Now I don't get color but they ask me all the time. So I asked my nail technician do many guys get nail polish? Surprising she told me they do. A guess black is popular among guys but she said she has done numerous colors. What about designs? So far she has not did any designs for any guys. I was curious about this but certainly not wanting to do it. I can't imagine the lash of jokes I would receive if one of the guys were to notice paint on my toe nails.
Once done I walked back to Walmart. I spent time doing some shopping. I got a couple cases of water, a chip box (with several individual chip bags), some travel size toiletries and cleaning supplies to clean up the car. I also visited thier outdoor section. Basically to see if they had anything for cheap. This area is only a couple of smaller aisles and I didn't see anything worthy of a purchase. This was almost perfect timing as I only waited for 10 minutes for them to finish my car.
Between the rain and my sister texting me of the news my day was altered because of it. I made good use of the time I think. Sometimes we need to take care of ourselves. Rainy days are busy delivery days and apparently others had the same ideas as me. It's ok though I felt it was a pretty productive day. I made my way home at about 5:30 p.m. So rather than depart on the 10th for vacation it will now be the 16th.
My delivery earning for the weekend are all but spent. Between tires, haircut, pedicure, and groceries I spent close to $500. I'll do some more delivery driving this week including some more weekend driving. I should be in good shape financial for my short vacation.
Thank you for stopping by and reading to this point. I'm so looking forward to some vacation and can't wait to share with you all. It will be fun to revisit some of the places I seen in the past. I just can't believe it's been 7 years already. This time will include a little more documenting and probably will visit more places. Take care, be safe and enjoy the week ahead.
