Riverside Monochrome Monday

Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to share a few photos from a recent trip down to the river flipped into black and white.
Riverside Monochrome Monday
The river is definitely one of my places to be. I think that's where my son gets it, as he is obsessed with rivers as well and any type of flowing water. Is it a natural or evolutionary thing? I would think so..
I got the chance to spend some time down by one of the rivers that we've been to frequently in the past. It was my first time here in a long time, as we don't need to go to the area anymore so I was feeling a little reminiscent of the fact that I wasn't walking in the area for quite a while! I was driving close by, and knew that I needed to stop in order to soak in the beauty.
One of the interesting things about this, and many other gems in the region, is that it's nested within a suburban area. It's not super close to a gigantic city but the neighborhood around it is indeed quite suburban, and affluent which could be why this big swath of land is protected. I loved that it is definitely a hidden gem in that we get to spend some good time in the great outdoors where we belong, without having to drive a considerable distance. A lot of the time when you are walking on the trail here, you can't even hear any cars! It's quite wonderful, and definitely peaceful.
This makes the walk along the trail that much more enjoyable, as we get a respite from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Could that be a reflection of the black and white mood of the photos? Surely!
I think one of the reasons that black and white is a weekly theme for me is because they not only change the photo quite dramatically into something that you'd not really think of most times, but they also bring forth a sense of introspection. I am not the most pondering person, but I do like when something as small as a change in photograph from a full color to black and white, elicits some reflective thought for me.
Taking a look at the colors, and bringing it down to a bit of a somber mood is quite interesting. I know that the area is beautiful and I love the colors of the trees and things around it in the full color version but seeing it in black and white is a bit of a noir feel to it. You think about the deeper and darker aspects of what's going on, and what is going on around us in life. Perhaps it's a load of shit, but I have definitely enjoyed seeing what emotions and thoughts are elicited from me from the black and white versions of these photos. Good stuff!
