Sunday's for reset

Sunday in a Nigerian household is never an option, it's a directive.
Every Sunday in my house you'll always wake up to the voice of someone yelling, “If you miss church today, don’t eat my food” and that's my mother. Suddenly, even the sleep in your eyes will recognise authority and disappear.

On the other hand, Sunday as a student is a confusing day. It is a day you have to worship spiritually and also a day of panic academically, yeah…. The next day is the beginning of a new academic week Monday.

You are in church singing and praising God but your brain is reminding you that you have not finished that assignment. During the sermon, the pastor is saying, God will make a way me I'm sitting in my seat quietly adding, even in my exams, Lord.

Sunday church service is like therapy, though. The choir singing with their melodious voices, and the pastor is probably talking about grace, favor, and new beginnings. At that moment, you forget school fees, deadlines, clinicals and that test you are not prepared for in school for two whole hours or more.
Then after all this, you return to your hostel and you take off your church attire, you plan to rest for just 10 minutes, and then you see yourself waking up at 4pm, everywhere go first blur. Ohhh Goodddd…. Somehow you might regret your decision to just rest your head for a while.
Reality calls now.
You remember you have books to read, you read one page, you check your phone, trying to know if there's a class update for Monday, yes there will always be, maybe not yet.
The next minute you remember you are hungry. We know pretty well that spiritual power does not eradicate hunger, right. After all this you realise it's already 6:00pm.

But somehow, Sundays will ever remain special to me, because it's one of the day I remind myself that it's a new week and I need to start better. Sunday is more like a reset button, it's a reminder that no matter how stressful the week was, I made it through. At this point I think it's my best day of the week.

And if you are reading this on a Sunday or Monday, I wish you a productive week, lenient lecturers, and stable WiFi and network and also less traffic while going to work.
Do have a blissful week.💟
