Hello Ladies!

Today I would like to speak about a controversial reflection: the life coaching industry. I know the sentence that I have used on the picture might be controversial, but I would explain myself more clearly with love and respect about this subject.

The last couple of weeks I have been using more traditional social media more frequently since I wanted to use it to sell my digital products. As I mentioned in my previous post , I created an online course about becoming a digital nomad based on the demand of people who would approach me asking me how to become one.

Since then I have been following more people in the life/business/wealth coaching industry and I have sum up the process that most of the people follow:

1. Creating a need to sell more by showing off.

I have studied copywriting and other marketing techniques and for selling is always use the same principle: problem, agitation and solution. Create a problem, make it bigger and sell the solution.

Most of the ads that would be shown on my feed and of other life coaches I used to follow will would be the same: how to make xxx $ a month. Of course amounts of money much bigger than you would make with a traditional full time job or a freelancer job.

They will speak about how they make thousands of dollars while they are sleeping or at the pool. Show you a luxury and perfect life that, apparently, you can learn how to create with their free 5 days challenges.

So now you have the need to make that amount of money per month because why would you be less, right?

2. The free event that is not that free

Then you go to event and they share that in the past they were "normal" people just like you. And now they have crazy amounts of money, the perfect relationship, the healthy lifestyle, etc.

And you can do the same just by signing up to their programs were they will tell you what to do you with your life because obviously you are not doing good enough. And also you can not figure out by yourself. You need someone to tell you how to arrange your life.

Besides if the amount of money that costs this program is bigger than what you have in your bank account, don't worry because the Universe will send you the money when you decide to sign up.

3. The teachings

You might sign up or not (I haven't done it, although I have been close to). But what I have seen is that the people who sign up to their programs start selling exactly the same. So suddenly you understand these memes of the coach who train other coaches to teach people how to be coaches.

And you might wonder (at least I do): which problem are they solving exactly? Which service are they delivering? Are they solving a problem or are they creating a problem?

And after the people who you know that joined the program are constantly sending you messages on Whatsapp, email and any other form of digital communication to sell you their programs. Because the Universe is sending the money to pay for the original program right? 😉

4. The reality

I am not saying that it happens in every case, but I know a few cases of people who are selling you this luxury lifestyle that actually they are in debt. The ones that sell you the perfect relationship can not maintain a real relationship in the long term. The one who claim that is vegan and has a perfect healthy diet is eating meat hamburger with fries and when they are caught they tell you that they went to the doctor and the doctor says that they needed these nutrients.

Conclusion

There are people who really teach valuable lessons about life, business, health, psychology,... I have met great teachers in different aspects. I have a great therapist who I am very grateful to speak to when I need to gain clarity in my life. But you know what I have realized?

These great teachers that I have met are not showing off their life all the time in social media. They use it to advertise their services, but their personal life is, like the word says, personal. Also these teachers and therapists, they don't tell you what to do, but they ask you the right questions so you can make the decision by yourself.

So my conclusion is that it would be great to gain awareness about the things that we watch online. That the only thing free is the here and now.And that sometimes if we spend too much time watching other's people movies, we might forget that we are also creating our own movie.

For long time I have been hesitating if sharing these thoughts or not. I don't want to offend anybody but I feel this is a reflection is nice to have for a chill Sunday 😎
