1. INTRODUCTION

(One of the most common missed encounters which yields valuable loot).
I wrote this guide to catalog the unique, special, and/or notable loot in Erannorth Renaissance. One of the tricky things about the game is that after combat, looting is an individual activity. If the wrong character with the wrong skill set loots the wrong corpse, you can easily miss out on some great equipment or special actions that aren't attainable elsewhere. Furthermore, certain enemies may require a rare or counterintuitive skill check in order to obtain their hidden loot.
I'll begin by providing an overview of looting. Then I'll go through some notable storyline loot, loot accessible through the world map, and then invaluable loot from random event combats (loot from non-combat random events can be found in my Random Event Guide).
Please note that the stated enemy levels are on Normal difficulty and may vary slightly depending on your character's level so use it as a rough guideline. Generally it seems like certain enemy levels scale according to your character level up until they reach the level cap that each region has. So for example, if you encounter the Llanford Crocodile or Eunice at the Windmill early on they may be Level 1. If you encounter them at Level 5 they might be at Level 5. But if you are Level 15+ then the crocodile is capped at Level 5 and Eunice and his bandit friends will still be at Levels 4-6.
Furthermore, you may find it useful to reference some of my other Erannorth Renaissance guides:
2. LOOTING 101
The vast majority of the time, Perception is going to be the primary skill used to check if you get hidden loot from a defeated enemy. Survival is a very distant second. Alchemy and Enchanting are used against specific enemy types. And while very rarely used, Warfare, Subterfuge, Occult, and Rituals can provide unique loot in specific combats.
During the post-combat phase when you can loot, you can spend unspent skill points and perk points. However, you cannot change equipped items nor can you swap party members from active to/from the reserves.
Generally, you will want to have one primary looter who has very high Perception. However, there are some common enemies who should be looted by a different specialist:
- Spider Broodmothers should be looted with Alchemy to get Spider Venom
- Giant Spiders should be looted with Survival to get 2 Spider Silk each
- Elementals should be looted with Enchanting (Air / Earth / Fire / Water elementals yield the appropriate material Zephyrite / Terracite / Wyrdflint / Dewstone)
So if you're fighting random bandits, adventurers, or vampires you should have your Perception expert do all the looting. But if you are fighting spiders, you want your Alchemy expert to loot the Broodmother and your Survival expert to loot all of the Giant Spiders. Enchanting isn't too useful in combat so many players prefer to have a reserve character focus on Enchanting instead of one of their main 6 characters. That is the approach I take, but if I know I am taking on an elemental monster lair, I'll add my Enchanter to my party. Even though they won't contribute much to the combat, they'll be able to bring in lots of valuable loot that can be used in crafting!
There are also specific story, world map, and random event combats where you need a different skill to find hidden loot. Check out the sections below to know when you need to do that!
Previously in Version 1.1.19, looted items and actions appeared in the inventory of the character who did the looting. But as of Version 1.1.60 looted items and actions automatically go to your party stash instead. This is particularly relevant if a temporary party member does the looting. Also be aware that there is an option in the Settings that you can toggle on/off which will allow you to transfer actions between characters.
One final note on loot. While you obviously get loot from defeating an enemy, it does look like you also get loot from parleying an enemy. Now I haven't experimented much with parley so I can't say with complete certainty but it seems like you do get equivalent loot from parleying an opponent rather than outright killing them....
3. STORY LOOT
Ennathil's Supplies
This is free loot in Ennathil's chest available at the beginning of the game:
- Practical Slacks
- Crimson Vest
- Rusty Roundel
- 10 gold
- Legend of Saint Gregory
- Lumberjack's Axe
- Iron Ingot
- 3 x Iron Ore
- Coal
Don't forget to equip the Practical Slacks, Crimson Vest, and Rusty Roundel before talking to Ennathil!

Volkoth, Decrepit Ghoul, Lesser Skeletal Archer
Levels 1-2
This is the first battle of the game which will happen after you talk to Ennathil and have the flashback sequence. You will have Lyn the wolf to assist you in the battle:
- The Volkoth always has a Dagger and 15 gold. However, if you succeed on an Easy Occult skill check, you receive the Ethereal Visage action.
- If you succeed on an Easy Rituals skill check when searching the Decrepit Ghoul you get the Infection action
- If you succeed on an Easy Survival skill check when searching the Lesser Skeletal Archer you find a Shortbow
The Ethereal Visage and Infection actions are both useful but they require your main character to be able to pass Occult and Rituals skill checks. Ethereal Visage deals Dark Damage, so it may be especially useful for certain Oscultari, Vampire, and/or Rituals builds. Infection requires either Rituals or Subterfuge to equip and can be used as a cheap 1 AP action for a spellcaster or for a Subterfuge poisonmaster.

PATH DEPENDENT: Pierre, Weak Robber, Random Bandit
This battle automatically happens after you accompany Jocelyn to her cabin. This requires having Jocelyn join your party (thus forgoing Augustin).
- Pierre always has a Shortsword. Passing an Easy Perception skill check gives you a Liquid Courage consumable and 10 gold.
- The Weak Robber always has a Shortbow. If you succeed on an Easy Survival check, you receive the Improvised Weapon action and 15 gold. This is the same Improvised Weapon action as from the Survivalist's Cunning (Survival 1) perk.
The Improvised Weapon action is not that great, but may be useful for a ranged character or spellcaster who gets stuck in melee combat. Also, while it might not deal a lot of damage, the defense bonus might actually be the more useful aspect.
Jocelyn starts with a similar Close Quarters action (which applies Bleeding instead of providing Defense) but that comes from her Shortbow. If she equips a different bow she loses that action and may gain a different action from the new bow.

PATH DEPENDENT & EASILY MISSABLE: Koltey, Weak Bandit, 2 x Random Bandit
This is an easily missed battle. This requires leaving Jocelyn and instead going to the cart two hexes east of Ennathil's camp to find Augustin. Help Augustin search for the bandits. There will be two different skill check opportunities. If you succeed, you skip the battle, automatically defeat the bandits, but will NOT gain access to this loot. So what you actually want to do is fail both of the skill checks to enter battle so you can claim the loot, of which the Quick Step action is particularly useful. Remember to not choose any skill check types which Augustin can pass!
- Koltey always drops a Thief's Knife and Duskwalker Pants. With a successful Easy Perception check, you also get Boar's Brawn Skewers and 75 gold.
- The Weak Bandit always has a Dagger. If whoever is searching the body passes an Easy Subterfuge skill check, you find the Quick Step action and 10 gold. This is the same Quick Step action that Eric and Claire start with.
The Quick Step action is actually quite good! It provides a passive Dodge bonus and can really help with movement and positioning at the cost of only 1 AP. However, because you have to actively fail two skill checks while on the Augustin path (which is far less popular than the Jocelyn path), this is probably the most commonly missed battle in the game!

PATH DEPENDENT: Dravienne, 3 x Vampire Warrior
This battle requires having gone with Augustin and not Jocelyn. Once in Llanford, Augustin will tell you about the Blood Coven and you will find this lair underneath the arena after you talk to Mordred the Occultist.
- Dravienne always has the Blisters action. This is the same Blisters action as from the Hex of Agony (Rituals 1) perk. Furthermore, if you pass an Easy Perception check, you also get a Pendant of Protection amulet.
Blisters is not amazing but it can be helpful for certain builds since it applies Vulnerable (for Opportunity) and Distracted (for Feint).

Caleb, 3 x Random Bandit
Levels 2-3
This battle happens automatically after you go to the Deranged Hermit while you search for the author of the mysterious note. There is no special or unique loot here.
- Caleb always drops a Shortsword and Liquid Courage consumables. With a successful Easy Perception skill check you also find 75 gold.

Krevok, 3 x Random Adventurer
Levels 2-4
After you talk to Ludo at the Deranged Hermit, you will face a battle where Ludo and Sheela temporarily join your party.
- Krevok always carries a Thief's Knife and Nightwalker's Slacks. With a successful Easy Perception skill check, you will also find a Dawn Vestment, the Quid pro Quo action, and 120 gold. This is the same Quid pro Quo action as from the Quid pro Pro (Connections 4) perk.
Quid Pro Quo requires Connections 4 to use. If your main character isn't spending skill points on Connections you can give it to either Sheela (who starts with Connections 4) or Ludo (starts with Connections 3 so you'll need to spend one SP).

Ludo's Supplies
After the battle with Krevok, you can get some free loot from the chest in Ludo's hideout:
- Adventurer's Belted Trousers
- Terra's Heart Waistguard
- Woodlander Boots
- Ink and Quill
- Scandalous Letter
- Oil Lantern
- Elegant Rapier
Scandalous Letters are the opposite of Poem gifts. You can use the Scandalous Letter to blackmail certain NPC's, netting you some gold but giving you a small relationship penalty with that character. It is used in the Illicit Affairs dialogue option.

PATH DEPENDENT: Shadow, 3 x Lesser Shadow
Levels 3-4
This battle requires the Jocelyn route (which means Augustin died). After you progress on the main storyline in Llanford, Jocelyn will suggest that you talk to Anya at the Temple of Driedelon for the Ennathil's Fate sidequest. Anya will ask that you take her to Ennathil's camp, during which this battle will trigger.
- If you pass an Easy Rituals skill check when searching the Shadow, you receive a Dusk's Caress weapon
Dusk's Caress is a good early game weapon. It requires Bladed 2 and provides some HP recovery via drain. It's great for Sheela since she has the requisite skill ranks to use the associated Bleeding Slice action.

Jake Harronwell, Jasmine Harronwell, Bobby Harronwell
Capped at Levels 6-7
After the Taymoor Ruins events, the storyline will have you go to the Heygrove manor during which you will fight the three wraiths. This battle takes place regardless of whether you are mortal or vampire.
- Jake Harronwell always drops a Dusk's Caress weapon. If you pass an Easy Rituals skill check (remember that Heygrove skill checks are more difficult than Llanford skill checks) you will also receive a Candle of the Cryptkeeper trinket and a Lesser Ghoul action. This is the same Lesser Ghoul action that you can create from the Liber Sepulchri Vivens in the Taymoor Hut.
- Jasmine Harronwell always carries a Grimoire Tenebris grimoire trinket. If you can manage to pass a Moderate Rituals skill check you will find a Wailing Widow action. This is the same Wailing Widow action as from the Wailing Widow (Rituals 8) perk.
To get the hidden drops from this battle you really need a dedicated Ritualist. The Candle of the Cryptkeeper gives some helpful bonuses for a Rituals summoner character. There are other ways to receive this trinket, including the Skull Pedestal random event. The Lesser Ghoul action summons some fodder you can use as a meat shield. Since Version 1.1.60 introduced the Liber Sepulchri Vivens, there are now other ways to obtain the Lesser Ghoul action.
The Wailing Widow action requires a high level of Rituals. It can be useful even if you already have the Wailing Widow perk or plan to unlock it. Although a character cannot equip multiple copies of the same action, the Wailing Widow (and other undead Rituals summons) are upgradeable. So you can upgrade one copy to a Dirge Matron while keeping the other copy as a Wailing Widow and then equip both.

PATH DEPENDENT & EASILY MISSABLE: Karrick, Weak Bandit, 2 x Random Bandit
Capped at Levels 11-12 (but more likely to be around Levels 7-8)
When establishing a new vampire haven in Valetport (regardless if you obeyed or defied Reyla), if you choose to go to Warehouse 17 at the docks, you will encounter Karrick. If you choose to fight him, you have the chance to defeat a Weak Bandit (the same as from the easily missable fight when helping Augustin) to receive a Quick Step action. Karrick and the random bandits just drop random loot (mostly gold).
After you defeat Karrick, you can still recruit him to your party.
- The Weak Bandit always has a Dagger. If whoever is searching the body passes an Easy Subterfuge skill check, you find the Quick Step action and 10 gold. This is the same Quick Step action that Eric and Claire start with.
This battle is easily missable because you have 3 different haven options. If you choose the underbelly of the city (which lets you recruit Dreya) or the noble estate, you miss out on Karrick. Furthermore, most players will probably go for the easy dialogue option, which doesn't require a skill check, to recruit Karrick. They don't realize that you can still recruit Karrick even if you fight him. So the best option is to actually fight him, get the Quick Step action, and then recruit him afterwards.

PATH DEPENDENT: Dreya, 3 x Random Bandit
Capped at Levels 11-12 (but more likely to be around Levels 7-8)
When establishing a new vampire haven in Valetport, if you choose to go to the underbelly of the city, you will encounter Dreya. If you choose to fight her, she will have 3 random bandit flunkies. All they drop is normal random loot. Unlike the optional fight with Karrick, you do NOT fight a Weak Bandit with a lootable Quick Step action.
Also, if you fight Dreya, she dies and you do NOT get the chance to recruit her afterwards (unlike in the case of Karrick where you can recruit him after defeating him).

PATH DEPENDENT: Naldrak
Capped at Level 12
If you go the vampire route, then in Valetport you have to establish a new haven. If you choose to enter the underbelly of the city in search of the temple, you will encounter Dreya (a successful Diplomacy check followed by selecting the Seduce option results in her joining you). After you either recruit or fight Dreya, you will then have a combat encounter with Naldrak the temple guardian (don't get him confused with Narloch the troll).
Unfortunately, Naldrak has no special loot (only random loot) but it's a special combat.
If you are playing as a mortal, you may encounter Naldrak in the sewers but he isn't interested in fighting you.

PATH DEPENDENT: Valdez, 3 x Random Bandit
Capped at Level 12 (but more likely to be around Level 8)
As a vampire (regardless of whether you obey or defy Reyla), after you chase Claire in the Grand Bazaar in Valetport you will encounter Claire's allies - Valdez and his band of Blackwater Thieves.
- Valdez always drops a Serpent's Spike. Passing a Moderate Perception check gives you 300 gold and the Disengage action. This is the same Disengage action as from the Cunning Escape (Survival 5) perk.
You need either Survival 5 or Warfare 5 to equip Disengage. For the cost of 1 AP you get a free Move with Adrenaline Rush along with increased Movement Range with Mobility.

PATH DEPENDENT: Dreya, Karrick, 3 x Lesser Shadow
Around Levels 7-8
If you remain mortal (i.e. do not become a vampire) then underneath the sewers of Valetport you will have to fight Reyla's minions, which include Dreya, Karrick, and 3 Lesser Shadows.
None of them have any special loot, just random items.

PATH DEPENDENT: Reyla, Brawn, Tricks
NOT Level Capped! They will be at your character's level!
If you side with Marie against Reyla while in Heygrove, you will have to fight Reyla, Brawn, and Tricks. All of them will be equipped with whatever is in their inventory so if you want to be sneaky, before the combat begins, unequip everything and move it all into your stash! This is particularly relevant because even though Reyla, Brawn, and Tricks may be equipped with various items, they won't drop whatever is in their inventory! They only have random loot drops so after the battle, any items in their inventory are lost forever!

PATH DEPENDENT: Duskwalker
If you become a vampire and obey Reyla, then after the orb is lost in Valetport, you have the option between investigating Reyla's past, searching for the orb, or abandoning the quest. If you go to Ponthill and visit the graves of Reyla's family, you become a Duskwalker vampire and can choose from 4 new powers:
- Turn to Mist
- Unholy Strength
- Breath of Frost
- Blood Corrosion
You also unlock access to new Duskwalker perks. Many of those new perks include an advanced version of those 4 powers. Although normally you can't equip two copies of the same action, since the advanced versions are named differently (Turn to Mist II, Unholy Strength II, Breath of Frost II, and Blood Corrosion II) you actually are able to equip both versions.
Please note that Turn to Mist allows you to move to any land tile within range. You can skip across Barriers and Ocean tiles but you cannot end up on one. However, you can cross the southern wall and go directly into the Wastelands, bypassing the normal requirement of sailing across the ocean. Furthermore, you can even access the eastern section of the map which includes town names but there's nothing there yet to actually do. However, given that the developer has said that explored tiles are stored in your save files, this could lock you out of future content if you explore this area before it is ready!

PATH DEPENDENT: Dario
Capped at Level 16
This requires becoming a vampire, obeying Reyla, and seeking her out after the orb is lost in Valetport. The first time you try to steal the orb from the Orb Sanctum in Dario's manor you will get a bad ending (Shadows of Yesterday). But on subsequent playthroughs (or just load an earlier save), you will fight him.
- Defeating Dario nets you a Shadowfern Rod and the Mesmerizing Glance action. This is the same Mesmerizing Glance action as from the Moonlit Compulsion (Vampire Level 10) perk. Passing a successful Perception skill check will also give you a Nocturnal Regalia armor.
Because you are infiltrating the manor, this is a one-on-one battle. Your companions will not be able to help you in this combat!

4. WORLD MAP LOOT
This section includes some of the special loot that you can find from fixed encounters on the world map. I'm not including:
- The 6 ghouls from the optional Gloomreach battle at (28,44)
- The 5 spiders from Bedale Ruins at (5,36)
Because they are just normal monsters with normal loot.
For more details on what you can get from the world map, please refer to:
Eunice, Bandit Archer, Bandit Spearman, 2 x Random Bandit
Capped at Levels 4-6
This is a combat encounter found at Llanford's Windmill (31,46).
- Eunice always drops a Stormkissed Cleaver, a Swift Strike action, and 125 gold. This is the same Swift Strike action as from the Finesse (Warfare 1) perk. If the looting character successfully passes an Easy Warfare skill check, they also receive the Reckless Sweep action.
- The Bandit Archer always has Duskwalker Pants. With a successful Survival check, you also find an Ironbark Longbow and a Steelguard Buckle.
- The Bandit Spearman's fixed loot includes Adventurer's Belted Trousers, Steelguard Buckle, and 50 gold. Passing an Easy Stalwart check rewards you with a Drill Sergeant's Guisarme.
The two notable rewards are the actions that can be found on Eunice. Swift Strike is a 1 AP attack that may be useful as a backup action. Reckless Sweep appears to be a unique action. It's not very good because it includes a drawback but getting the bleeding status could actually be beneficial if you have a lot of sacrifice actions since you can then skip the HP cost of sacrifice.
After the combat, you will also receive 250 gold and Reputation (Llanford) +5.

Marsh Crocodile
Capped at Level 5
This is a new encounter added in Version 1.1.60 at Llanford Lake (32,53).
- The Marsh Crocodile always drops a Crocodile Hide raw material. If you succeed on an Easy Survival check, you receive a second Crocodile Hide.
After the combat, your party will also receive 400 gold, Skill Points +1, and Reputation (Llanford) +10.

Taymoor Hut
This abandoned hut is simply labeled as a Marsh tile though you can see the hut image on the world map at (33,45).
Coming here gets you some free loot!
- Alchemica Mysteria grimoire trinket
- 2-3 random Herbalism ingredients, Potion ingredients, and/or Potion consumables
- Skull
- Random amount of Bones
- Random amount of Dewstone
- Random amount of Zephyrite
- Liber Sepulchri Vivens book
Reading the Liber Sepulchri Vivens gives you the recipe for the Lesser Ghoul action (Requires Rituals 2, 450 gold, ingredient is a Blood Thrall) and the Swamp Fen Brew (Requires Rituals 3 and the Liber Sepulchri Vivens, 180 gold value, ingredients are Bog Water, 2 Nightcaps, 2 Snails, 2 Caterpillars, and a Rat).
During camp, the Liber Sepulchri Vivens can be used to increase the Corruption of a companion (i.e. if you want them to select Corruption perks) or, when used with Swamp Fen Brew can turn one of your companions into a Ghoul!

Narloch
Capped at Level 7
Exploring Narloch's Chasm (35,44) results in a fight with Narloch the earth troll.
- After you defeat Narloch, if the searching character can pass an Easy Enchanting skill check you will receive around 2-3 Terracite
Defeating Narloch also lets you search the rest of the cave, which gives you:
- Random weapon (around Rank 3)
- Random shield (can range from Level 1-11)
- Random adventuring gear
- Random adventuring gear
- Random amount of Silver Ore
- Random amount of Terracite
- Random amount of Wyrdflint
- Random amount of gold (around 200-300)

5. RANDOM EVENT LOOT
There are two random events that can result in combat with special unique actions as loot.
There is also a random event where you can fight 3 Mire Stalkers but they don't carry any special loot.
For more details on what you can get from non-combat random events, please take a look at:
Lizardfolk Ambush
2 x Lizardfolk Warrior, Lizardfolk Hunter, Lizardfolk Skirmisher
This random event can happen on marsh tiles. After the events at Taymoor Ruins, there is a very high chance that you trigger this event if you step on a marsh tile. It is possible to trigger this event earlier, especially if you spend time adventuring in Taymoor Marsh.
All of the skill check options will result in combat - it just determines if you lose some HP before battle. Note that these are individual skill checks for your main character and not a party skill check.
The Lizardfolk Skirmisher always drops an Adventurer's Belted Trousers, Steel Hatchet, and 50 gold. With a successful Easy Warfare skill check, you will find a Leap action. This is the same Leap action as from the Predator's Pounce (Primal 3) perk.
The Lizardfolk Hunter always carries Tanner's Simple Slacks, the Shield Cover action, and 25 gold. If you pass an Easy Perception skill check you receive the Scout Ahead action and 25 gold.
The Leap action is one of the various actions that lets you move and attack for 3 AP's. It requires Primal 3 or Warfare 3 to equip. The Shield Cover and Scout Ahead actions seem to be unique. Shield Cover isn't so great. It requires Stalwart 4 and applies Fortify and Resist Vulnerable but at the cost of temporarily reducing your movement range with Lethargy. Scout Ahead is more useful though. It only requires one rank of Perception and for 1 AP you gain Defense and improved Accuracy. It's good to use right before attacking.

Mire Wraith Encounter
There is also a random event that can result in a combat with a Mire Wraith. This random event seems to happen on marsh tiles. It can be triggered by an Explore action. I only encountered it later in the game at Witherfen Bog so I don't know if you can have this fight earlier in Taymoor Marsh.
First you will have a choice between "something inside you stirs" and "you feel it, the pull." Choosing "something inside you stirs" will initiate the combat with the Mire Wraith.
If you instead choose "you feel it, the pull," you will then get two additional choices. "You step forward" will trigger the combat with the Mire Wraith while "something in your gut tells you this isn't right" will end the random event without combat. In this case, you DO want to fight the Mire Wraith so don't choose the second option!
Mire Wraith
Capped at Level 18 in Witherfen Bog
- After you defeat the Mire Wraith, if you can manage to succeed on a Moderate Rituals skill check you receive the Duskrend action
Duskrend requires Rituals 8 to equip and 3 AP's to use. At a range of 4 hex tiles it deals Dark Damage and can instantly destroy enemies with low HP. It's a great attack option for Rituals character builds.

6. TO DO LIST:
The game files show Klythar, Thoryn, and Vayne of the Blood Coven. I haven't thoroughly gone through an Augustin playthrough to see if these enemies are available on his story path:
- Klythar of the Blood Coven always drops the Ethereal Chains action. With an Easy Perception check he also gives you a Gloomshade Scepter.
- Thoryn of the Blood Coven always drops a Frostbite Hammer. With an Easy Perception check you find a Scarecrow's Shroud and the Leap action.
- Vayne of the Blood Coven always leaves behind the Crippling Toxin action. Passing an Easy Perception check gives you a Blight Spear.
The game files also show some minor enemies at the Rusty Anchor. As a vampire, after you lose the orb in Valetport if you decide to pursue the orb (instead of investigating Reyla's past) you go to the Rusty Anchor and can overhear Donahew and Jacoby talking about the orb going to Denham. If you instead talk to Lucy, you have a confrontation with Donahew but even if you fail the Coercion check, no combat ensues. Thus, I don't know how to initiate a combat with them though fortunately they don't carry anything special. According to the game files:
- Donahew drops a Dwarven Knuckle. If you pass an Easy Perception check you also get 50 gold.
- Jacoby has the exact same drops as Donahew
