Splinterlands Land Update and the DHF Proposal

I have to admit that I don’t really have the time to stay on top of developments (and politics) in the Splinterlands Ecosystem, nor for HIVE itself to be perfectly honest. I try to keep an ear to the ground though and have a few sources of information that I trust, but I can’t claim to be fully informed. To some extent I just have to rely on my gut instincts.

I took the plunge a while ago and invested in some Land for Splinterlands and have been slowly Dollar-Cost-Averaging while buying the Workers I need to get those lands into production. I’ve tried to be patient and scooped up bargains when I see them even as the ecosystem overall continues to decline. I’m finally at the point now where I will have my major landholdings fully producing. I have 10 plots in each of 2 regions so my plans for Building a Supply Chain in Splinterlands are on track...well, from my side of things at least.
It seems like there are a growing number of Red Flags on my Splinterlands investment, the latest of which is the Splinterlands DHF Proposal #315 which is basically Splinterlands asking the HIVE Fund to help them out with some funding. It has caused a bit of controversy with some saying that this is an instance of “Privatising profits and socialising losses” which is something I am fundamentally against. Yet I also see there is a valid argument for supporting a venture that adds value to HIVE...plus I am personally invested in both. So yeh...I am a bit conflicted about it.
I think that if Splinterlands left HIVE then it would be a disaster for BOTH and as an investor in BOTH I definitely don’t want to see that. So for now I am supporting the DHF Proposal. However, I am drawing a line under my investment in Splinterlands and HIVE. I have been patiently waiting for a recovery in both, but it just hasn’t been coming. Maybe I’ll just end up a stupid Bag Holder but I do acknowledge that sentiment is poor right now for these ecosystems and that can turn around. I believe that there is still some value in both Splinterlands and HIVE so I’m cautiously optimistic that value will eventually be realised...
