It was a good plan last night, we were going to settle into the couch and watch my niece play a sectional game in the end of season tournament. Unfortunately, nature had other plans and they didn't even get through the top of the first inning before the skies opened up and it was a torrential downpour.

Thankfully, we were nice and dry at home, the field on the other hand was a different story. There was so much standing water then ended up having to postpone the game until today. Since @mrsbozz and I are planning on being out of town, I packed my laptop so we can still hopefully catch the action.

As I said yesterday, if they lose this game their season is over. If they win, they go on to face the number 7 team in the nation. I'm not really sure how they feel about that. It could have been avoided actually, but their coach made the decision he made and they have to live with the results of that decision.

Meanwhile, softball in the university world continues to roll along! I live in Big Ten country, so that is what I will be focusing on mainly right now. Indiana upset the number 1 seed Northwestern to advance to the semifinals. They will face a #4 seed Nebraska team that took out Minnesota quite handily yesterday.

In the other part of the bracket, #2 seed Michigan beat #10 seed Maryland to advance and will face #11 Wisconsin who eliminated #3 seed Rutgers. I'd love to see a Indiana/Wisconsin final quite honestly. I'm not a huge fan of Michigan, and I am indifferent to Nebraska. It was fun watching Indiana take down Northwestern yesterday, so I enjoy watching them.

There was a parent from Nebraska in the stands last night that you could hear during the whole game shouting. He had a beer in his hand and he was quite annoying. That's another reason why I would love to see Indiana advance.

Meanwhile, back over in the DII world where my other niece plays, Northwood lost to Trevecca, so one more loss and they are out of the tournament. It also looks like another Michigan school, GVSU beat Ohio Dominican, so they are living on borrowed time as well. Unless there is some kind of rally, I have a feeling Trevecca is going to win out that division and move along to the super regionals. We will see though.

Trevecca has to face GVSU today at noon, so one of those teams will get their first loss of the regionals today. I'll probably try to stream that game here in my office before I take off for the day.

Check back on Monday when I have all the great softball action from the weekend. Plus we have the selection show for the DI tournament on Sunday, so that should be exciting!
