It only takes a moment...

Sigh... my wife and I are run off our feet at the moment (hence, the relatively spare posting recently...)... preparing various concerts and repertoire, travelling and touring, and then doing the logistical stuff for three of our ensemble's incoming concerts in the next month... plus, a regional tour to organise and prepare for as well.
Eeepp... and that means that we sort of prone to lapses in judgement.. happens when you are batting away many things.
Anyway, for my wife, it means that she forgets things... or starts to find it difficult to relax and sleep. For me, I'm generally fine in those areas, but then I start get a little distracted in thought at inopportune times... and a pretty bad time to be distracted is when you are piloting a car...
Thankfully, it wasn't a crazy bad accident... it definitely could have been worse... it was on a school drop off run, a dangerous time at the best of times... and with bad heavy rain as well... and I just missed seeing a dark gray car that was going through a roundabout and pulled out slowly in front of it...
Of course, slammed on the brakes... but just clipped their side. Thankfully, mostly just scratches on their car and ours...a small crack on their bumper, and a cracked headlight housing on ours. So, thankfully again... no injuries, and no major damage...
... but I did send it straight through to insurance, even though it probably wouldn't cost too much to deal with privately... but I just don't have the brain space to deal with it at the moment... better to just let the insurance companies sort it all out.
But I do wonder if our premiums will rise.... this is a minor accident, but last year, we also had an accident which had our car written off as not economical to repair. Also another low speed accident, but a bad one for ours as it fared much less well against a tank of a car!
So, I've taped the housing up to keep the rain out... but I'm flying out on tour again this morning, which means that my wife has to take it to the inspection. And I feel the worst about stacking one more thing on her in this period of busyness...
