Newbies Initiative Task 8 : BUILDING HIVE CONNECTIONS

I will always say that every Newbies Initiative meeting that is being held, opens me to several new things that are important to my growth on the Hive Blockchain.
Last meeting we spoke about Golden Connection. According to our speaker of the day @depressedfuckup he said "most times in life it isn't all about what you know but who you know" and I agree so well with that. I was extremely glad I was able to learn and understand new things.

Discuss some ways you can build strong connections on Hive, giving practical examples from your experience accompanied with screenshots.

  • Providing Value in The Hive community:
Value is very important in every ecosystem. If you do not provide value in the blockchain then it simply means you are useless to the Blockchain. You could provide value to the community by creating quality content. Your posts should have quality and have an impact on the Hive Blockchain as it is important for your growth and also the growth of the community.
I have tried providing value to the blockchain as well by interacting with non-hive users on the X spaces, I try to tell them more about the blockchain and the important opportunities available.

  • Engagement: One way of connecting with people on the Hive Blockchain is Engagement. One way of engaging is by dropping meaningful Comments. Most times these Comments could lead to conversation and connection building. Comments that are related to the post and are meaningful and detailed. Another means of engaging is knowing what’s happening on the blockchain and partaking in it. That way you get to meet and know new people.

  • Running Some Projects on the Blockchain:
Run some meaningful projects on the Blockchain. It won't be bad, if you could come up with projects that are important to people and people could relate to, that way you could also build connections with people. So always try to brainstorm and come up with new ideas.

  • Engaging with People Off the Hive Platforms:
Most times it is easier to connect with most people on Hive via other places, such as Discord. You could do this by joining the discord channels of most of the communities here on Hive. It would be easier to engage on those communities’ Discord channels such as the Hive learner's Discord channel and the Dreemport Discord Channel. This is because the Hive Blockchain is extremely big and you can't engage with everyone on the Blockchain but Discord could help with it.

Make at least 4 meaningful and detailed comments on people's posts, and create a conversation out of the post.

Within this week I have been able to drop meaningful and detailed comments on people’s posts. I was able to do this by reading through their post properly and trying to resonate with it so I could drop something that tallies with what the writer is talking about in his/her post.
Some authors were super excited I went through their posts properly, while some had a conversation with me about it.

After the previous task where @nkemakonam89 asked us to engage in the blockchain activity I joined the Zealy marketing campaign and honestly, that has helped me with engagement as well as dropping meaningful comments on most podcasts.

What is the difference between this type of detailed engagement and short comments like “nice post”?

Most times leaving comments such as “nice post” or “cool” could render the author speechless. Those short comments do not leave any iota of engagement as the author either ignores them while replying to important ones or just writes “thank you” since they have nothing else to say.
The difference between meaningful comments and short comments like “nice post” is that most times Authors are drawn to detailed comments, it tells them that this user was able to understand my post and leave something important and meaningful.

You can get most people's attention by the comments you leave, I have noticed that so well on the blockchain. On a certain day, I left a nice comment on an author’s post and he got drawn to my profile where I got an upvote on some of my posts.

What is something new that you’ll start doing now to connect with people and make friends on Hive?

I’m basically on the quiet side of this blockchain but I will try my best to increase my engagement rate. Try to go through people’s posts and leave detailed comments.
I think most platforms like Dreemport have introduced me to a lot of people on this blockchain and we have conversations even outside the blockchain.
I’ll try to engage with one or two people every week outside the blockchain on the discord channels, that way I can build my connection.

I’m aware the Newbie Initiative is slowly coming to an end I would love to thank @starstrings01 for starting up this project. Our various teachers and moderators of the Newbies Initiative you all deserve lots of accolades. Thank you☺️
