Pleasant greetings everyone!

It is said that we shoul not count the former days as being better than the present but with what is happening currently in my country, I cannot but lament at how the former days were more palatable and bearable than this present time.

The prompt for this week by #qccommunity is

What moment in your past do you like the most and why?

This prompt took me back memory lane and I began to reminisce about the good old days. The good old days for me is none other than my childhood days. Those days were the bomb, I did practically nothing and all was given to me. I was served by my parents, uncles and aunties. They called me their princess and took turns in making me happy...oh how I love those days.

If I wanted anything, all I had to do was open my mouth wide and wail, yes wail not cry cos I had a big loud mouth and being the first and only child at the time, I earned the attention of every family member. My dad especially took extra special care of me and pampered me silly.

Who would dare hit me or scold me? Hmmm, you would hear stuff like..

I will tell my daddy for you, if you beat me 😆 😂

I said it like that with my hands akimbo, chest puffed up and head held up high and trust me, with a defiant pose like that. I was unbelievably scary and I was just three years old. For me age three was my golden year as I was seen as a big girl by my aunties and carried everywhere without fear of me soiling my dress or messing myself up with pee or poop.

The best part of living in that time was that I could order anyone around and got away with it. Plus I could make whatever request and it would be done. No one told me about the hardships of the country. No one told me about any economic difficulty or the usual "there is no money" anthem. Little Becky got whatever she wanted, final and period!

I would tell my dad what to buy when he was coming back from work and oh lord help me if he didn't get exactly what I requested for, there would be an avalanche of tears. My requests were honestly not much at all. I would ask for red apples, chocolate, bread and wafer biscuits....these were my favourites then and my dad indulged me a lot....no wonder I've got a sweet tooth.

In fact, I aslo recall that whenever my mum wanted to make some demands, she would chanel the demand through me but I was smart as I would say it straight like..

"Daddy, we want to eat noodles and toast bread and we want to drink 5 alive juice too".

My dad always caught on but he would still fulfill the demand, hehe.

Oh how I wish to relive those days again...alas I understand that no matter how I wish for it, I can never go back in time.

Thank you all for reading...shalom
