Land tool update: Playground part 3
11 comments

Hello splinter fam,
Back again with a small land tool update.
I did not have much time lately. Work has started again so you know the drill. Less time for hobby projects 😄
Because of that this update is focused on quality of life changes only. Nothing crazy but still very useful in land planning.
This time it is all about the playground.
Small Playground QOL Update
Only two new features this time. Both based on feedback and actual usage.
New features:
- Add clear options (feedback from @azircon)
- Add difference view in overview
Let’s walk through them one by one. They should be pretty self explanatory.
Clear Options Added
The clear button finally made its way into the playground.
At first I thought this would be a really easy lift. Just a few hours and done. In reality it needed a bit more refactoring than expected, especially around how data flows (how changes are stored).

There are now two different ways to clear data.
The first option clears everything (Clear All).
This removes all data from worksites to all assigned workers/title/totems etc in one go.
The second option is more granular (All the orange buttons).
You can clear only specific filtered items. This works for totems, titles, runi, workers or worksites.
One small thing to be aware of.
If you have a worksite filter active and you clear worksites, they will disappear from the overview as well. This is expected behavior but good to keep in mind.
After clearing, the overview will update, including it added to the changes.
Example (clear all titles):

Difference View in Overview
This feature is especially useful for larger land owners.
When you have millions of PP and high production numbers, small optimizations can be very hard to spot. A few tweaks here and there often get lost in the big totals.
With the new difference view you can now clearly see what actually changed after making adjustments.

This makes it much easier to validate whether your changes had any real impact or if they were mostly cosmetic.

Wrapping Up
That’s it for this update.
Two small tweaks but both improve usability of the playground quite a bit. Especially when experimenting with setups and doing multiple iterations.
More to come once time frees up again. For now I am happy these made it out.
Happy planning and see you in the next update 👋
