My Garden Journal "Cleaning the abandoned cactus mini garden"

Hi to all my fellow gardeners in the worlds, How are you doing today mate? Hoping that your garden is fine. After a long period i am absent about gardening, now i am starting to look after my mini cactus garden again. Yeah i am absent looking my backyard since November last year until recently. I am starting looking my backyard again because when i came back from my hometown, my backyard is like Jungle literally Jungle.

This is after my wife help me cleaning in front of the door. Before she helping me cleaning the weeds literally everywhere and so tall and bushy. It took 1,5 hours to cleaning up the floor from weeds and cutting some weeds that grows from the soil. I dont know from where the weeds come from. I am even pluck the weeds until the roots. And yet every 2 weeks it is still need to be plucked again. I dont wanna using any chemical because i am still renting this house. I am afraid that the chemical can broke the floor or something else and it can make me pay the charge when something terrible happens,prevention is better than cure, right?

Honestly, it is tiring cleaning this mess up. But when looking my cactus, i think i need to cleaning this mess up before this mess up can killing more my cactus. Some of them die, maybe not just cause the weeds, maybe it because the weather that rain everyday can make my cactus suffocate. Especially the babies one.

After cleaning it, i am not looking my cactus one by one. I am afraid that will make me broken heart looking many cactus did not survive, so i am leaving it few days before i am checking it.

Long short story, 4 days passed. Now i am ready to looking to all my cactus.

Turns out that overall my cactus survive with the rain climate and looking fresh
but some of them did not survive maybe because the shock from the change of weather. In my city usually the weather is very hot and the sun is very bright and hot. And it need to watering every 2 days for my cactus and when i am busy at the November last year i am forgotting my cactus. But, thankfully November the rain is starting so somehow my cactus thriving from dehydration. And some of them suffocating because to wet and damp.

Even my Gymnocalycium Mihanovitchii cactus growing bigger and lusting, many of them even brings out the colour pattern in their body. The colour pattern between their ribs brings out the red and orange colour. That is make them more beautiful than the last year i saw them.

For first i think this cactus is merely just green with some spooting yellow a little bit and the variegata cannot spread in this cactus body But, now the variegata can spreading and make this cactus have some character. Still don't know how the babies, it can having the beautiful colour or turns out that will be just normal green without any variegata in it.

Speaking of baby. I remembered the last time i make my garden content, i cut all the baby and make the babies to stood of for itslef. But look at that. The babies is coming out again and it is even more in the mother bodies. I think i need to propagate it again to make more Gymnocalycium Damsii.

And speaking the baby that i am cut, right now the babies grow bigger. I think next week i need to separate them to new pot and make them growing bigger one by one in their own pot.

Yeah some of my cactus that having babies, i am not cutting them and make them growing for itself. And this one babies stealing my eyes attention. The vibrant colour that it have make me speechless. Full variegated colour in the top combination of two different colour and the green body above the body make this babies perfect. i think i need separated this one. Because it can growing by itself because still have green colour in the body and the variegata colour can make this cactus photogenik. But, i dont know i have the courage to separated it or not. It will be painfull to both of us, my finger will hurt because it spine,and the cactus will having shock after i am separeted it and it can make the cactus die from the shock and stress.

Talking about the vibrant colour. This cactus colour pattern is also awesome. Having same pattern on each ribs make this cactus very photogenic. I remember buying this cactus when this cactus is very tiny. Now this cactus growing up lusting and healthy. Cant wait waiting another year and see how big this cactus can be.

And growing big means it can be overly growing in the mother body. last year i think these babies is not bigger like that. But i dont wanna hurt myself to separeted and remove the babies. Really the spine is so thin and smooth that can be very hurt if stuck on my skin. Especially it will be hard to look at and search in my hand or finger even though i am using gloves when separated these babies. I am trying before and cannot bear with the pain of the spines. So i decided to make this cactus it is what it is.

Not only cactus that still growing extraordinary, this haworthia is still healthy and fine even the weather seems extreme for haworthia. You can see many leaves turns to brown and get so many scar in their leaves. That because if the sunburn and the weather change so fast making this haworthia got easily sunburned and overwatering in the same time. But, i think this haworthia will be thriving another year. And i need to move it to the bigger pot. They need more space to growing up the other cluster of babies.

Not only the Haworthia that growing healthy and lusting, my Dorstenia is also growing bigger and lusting. The leaves everywhere until the trunk cannot be seen. They absorb so many sunlight and drain the mineral faster to outgrow the leaves and make the looping until they can grow trunk branches. When i am looking in their trunk i see many of them growing branches and it is a good sign. So i need no worry about these plants except, the seed can be growing anywhere because when the seeds ripe it will pop out like popcorn and flew away from the flowers.

I really forgot this euphorbia species names. But i remembered i bought it when this plants is very tiny with having no branches nor leaves at all. I forgot buy it from auction or just from regular buying. But the first i get this plants is kinda terrible looking. But, look at it now. The more branches also the more leaves make this plants beautifull right? But dont underestimate this plant. The branches is full of spike and when you touch the branch it can make you hurt.

Sadly not only good news i got here, Some of my cactus got dryed up and some of them gone and some of them become a mush. And it make my heart really broken. After i check it turns out that he got fungi and pest in it root. So, i need to get rid this cactus as soon as possible before spreading to my other cactus. Yeah i need to prevent the number of victims increases.

But hey it is okay. All living things can died remember. So, we just need to take care of it. And when i take care of it, i think i found the diamond in here. maybe right now it seems like nothing special in this cactus. But, i am have feelings that this cactus variegata will be great someday. Why i can say that. because i remembering i bought this cactus and the first i bought it, the colour is just green only without variegata. And from that i can imagine in the future when this cactus growing up bigger, it will having more variegated colour in the body and can make some pattern on 3 or 4 ribs. Cannot wait to see how this cactus become, but when deciding to take care cactus plants. We need to be patience and waiting they growing slowly. It took years i guess to see how big the cactus growing.
