My first pocket money i received as a kid was when I was in my secondary school days, then in my primary school days i wasn't giving any pocket money rather we were given food to eat, but as I entered secondary school my parents starts giving me money for transport and pocket money to buy snacks during break or recreation period. From the pocket I will save little in my piggy box, there are sometimes i will track back home or enter free bus, just to save the pocket money. When I noticed the piggy box is full i will break and use it buy wool for my knitting work and sometimes I sell them to my fellow students and earn small cool cash for myself.

There was a day, i broke my piggy box, so i took all the money to school to spend it as big girl, atleast to spoil myself a bit, but the worse happened, i don't know how i mistaken misplaced the money or i don't know if someone stole the money from my bag, I cried my eyes out and I regretted why i took the money to school. My parents continued to give me pocket money till i finished my secondary school .

My first earning was when I finished secondary school, so I got a job as a sales girl at the building material market at the east. The first time I received my salary i was so happy, the joy i had was unspeakable. As a young girl, there's this joy that one experience knowing fully well you earn your money in a ligit way. Even though the earning is not much but it worth the time then. I think my salary then was 10k monthly 😄.

Then as young girl and teenager i don't know what to do with the money, i don't have bank account to save the money. I will just take the money and give to my mother, because I don't know what to do with the money because if that money stay with me i will lavish it on unnecessary things. So i rather give it to my mum and from there she will give me a pocket money and also money to pay my tithe in church and she will use the remaining money to add up and buy foodstuffs for the family.

Earning in a ligit way gives one self confidence and there's dignity in labour, parents should encourage their children to engage skills that will help them to earn but they shouldn't be carried away from their education. When I was much younger i had few skills and certificate on computer, i even work in other establishment before and after university to earn money and which has helped me as a woman i am today.

This is my entry for this week #iucontest contest.
Thanks for going through my post and am so delighted. I still remain @amara24. Love you all and happy weekend ❤️💋.
