I continue to learn to draw and use the book by Arthur Gaptill “Rendering in Pen and Ink”.

On the 7th chapter shade and light do not end and flow into the 8th. To learn to draw - I need to draw. To learn how to build light and shade - I need to be able to see. To do this, take a single object, add lighting and draw what I see. I try to convey the relationship between light and shade with the help of value. It will be a little rough, but each time everything is easier and simpler. I also want to note that you can choose any version of the value - look at my cube 😂.

In addition to light and shade, we must try to convey both the light ratio and the material of the object. To do this you can use different value. I like the dots the most, but they are not everywhere. And you? What do you like to use?

And today I will talk a little about chapter nine. The main theme is groups of objects. What is the difficulty? Not every group of objects will look harmonious with each other. It is better to take objects similar in purpose, but different in texture and silhouette. Otherwise, the picture will be boring 🤷‍♀️. You also shouldn't forget about the composition, and in order to make life easier for you, you can use a camera: if you like the photo, then in the sketch this group of objects will turn out well. If you don’t like the photo, feel free to rearrange the items one relative to the other. Do not forget about the ratio of light and dark areas of the picture, the shade, simplify unnecessary details.

And I remind you that our main teacher is practice and time. Draw!

P.S. It is hard to write in English, because my native language is Russian. But I'm learning. If you notice serious errors in the text that interfere with the correct perception, please let me know about them.
