I knew in advance that day 11 was going to be another challenging day, simply because we had a lot of errands to run in town, and my wife had managed to get us tickets for the opening night showing of "Dune Part 2" at our local movie theater.

A collage of stones from a couple of years back...

So that's already a solid five, possibly six, hours taken out of a day in terms of available time to do art and creative stuff.

On top of that, I had to pack up about a week's backlog of my eBay paper collectibles business, which set me back more.

Day 11 Stone Painting:

Today's project...

For today, I chose a rather chubby little greenish stone that I had originally set aside in my "too rough to paint" bucket, but on second inspection it's actually quite a nice little rock and I liked the way that it's kind of on the fat and round side.... even though those are typically more difficult to paint well.

A bit of a side view

Because the stone itself is a greenish gray color, I decided I was going to use complementary green colors on it, which led me to realizing that I should just turn it into a Heart Chakra stone. Yeah, I do "woo-woo" stuff, from time to time!

Here, the beginning of the pattern is starting to take shape. Then I'm going to add some elements of pink and white to it as well as continue with the green theme mixed with some accents in black and gold.

The contrast will be more pronounced after the finish coat is applied

As mentioned, very round stones like this are actually quite difficult to paint, because a mandala is inherently a two-dimensional design and this is a very 3-dimensional dome shape I'm painting on.

I also realized quite quickly that I was making the pattern more detailed and I normally do. That is to say the lines and dots were closer together than usual and laid out on a smaller scale. That makes the work very time consuming and I have to be extremely accurate and rest my eyes regularly.

The final stone. Sorry it's a bit out of focus... I finished rather late at night.

Because of the roundness of the stone, the pattern is already starting to disappear off the sides when you look at it from above.

All in all, I'm not too unhappy with how this turned out. The picture below shows the stone taken from the side so you can see how the design wanders down the sidewall of the stone.

Finished! Time to go to the drying shelf.

Day 11 Summary:

One stone painted; a bit of a departure from the usual, but it turned out nicely.

Daily Twitter/X post: Check. Pretty simple today: Just shared the big stone I painted yesterday.
Daily Facebook Page post: Fail. Was going to do a collage of sorts, but my photo editing program crashed and I didn't have the energy to start over.
Daily Instagram post: Check. Picture of one of the smaller stones from earlier this week.

Other Stuff: This Hive post; otherwise nothing... out of energy for today. Daily shoutout to @gillianpearce hope you're having a good trip to see your relatives!

Day 11 completed; went OK, in spite of time constraints. Looking forward to a day when I might just focus on creative stuff!

I appreciate you coming to visit and please do leave a comment if you feel so inclined!

Thank You!
