▶ It should be emphasized that the assimilable calcium required by our organism is not only obtained from raw or pasteurized milk, since vegetables and nuts also offer an important calcium sink.

I mention this, because we always relate calcium to dairy products, however, we can also obtain it from some vegetable species, and in similar quantities, therefore much healthier.

The truth is that, maintaining eating habits where we incorporate plant species will not provide ideal conditions for a healthier life, in the case of species rich in calcium, the most appropriate is to follow a diet based on these plants that guarantee us this mineral.

▶ Among the vegetable species that usually provide the same or a higher percentage of calcium than milk, we can mention the following plants: spinach, broccoli, chickpeas, watercress, and most nuts. In this last aspect, it is important to emphasize that nuts such as walnuts, hazelnuts and sesame seeds have been proven to reduce osteoporosis.
