Sci-fi tv show idea

Random post today about a tv show idea I had while trying to fall asleep last night.

Basically this transpires in the future where teleportation is made possible but is very expensive to be used. Thus it's commonly not used for random things like shipping books or your shitty amazon deals to you but rather for important/rich people who need to be places instead of using their private jets, etc.

The plot of the show is that a new reality tv show was made, who it belongs to is unknown but using blockchain technology and smart contracts it ensures it will pay the winning participants so there's people signing up for it. The reason it's so anonymous is because there's real risk to contestants of injury and death.

How the show works is simple. A group of people are all teleported at the same time to random locations throughout the world. The only guarantee is that it'll be 1 centimeter above ground and not in water. The goal for them is to then make their way to the closest checkpoints spread out over major cities around the world starting out with only their clothes on them, no phone, utilities, money, passport, etc. The only gadget they're wearing are glasses that record their journey for broadcasting later. This event cannot happen live as audiences would attempt to assist or prevent teleported contestants to get to their destination.

As you can imagine, a lot can go wrong right off the bat. Contestants have a high risk of being teleported to the Sahara Desert or Australian outback, high chance for landing in icy greenland, or the north and south poles. The guarantee that they won't land in oceans or lakes does not mean much when there's also a slimmer but good chance they can be teleported inside already existing structures such as buildings and trees, the program only guarantees above ground, i.e. mountains, terrain but not man-made structures or plants and vegetation. The instant teleportation can also lead to explosions occurring that could also affect other innocent bystanders when a person happens to be teleported inside other solid matter. This is another reason the creators of the show are unknown.

The contests would start off with a lot of people and a big prize money for the top 3 who are first to get to the checkpoints and audiences get to see all their journeys from beginning to end.

Further goals/milestones can be added, I didn't think this through more than that.

Since this is a tv show however and not an actual "reality show" one could flip the script a bit to encourage more exciting teleportation landing spots that'll get the participants in trouble they have to get out of. A small percentage would probably die instantly by getting stuck in random branches/bushes/etc.

Participants could use some training and knowledge on survival, geoguessing, direction, etc, but there's probably some who go in it raw cause they're desperate enough for the prize money. The show could include things like backstories, read their minds through the journey (if teleportation is possible in this future, why not mind-reading) to give audiences more excitement to watch and pick who they want to win and connect with.

Thoughts? :P
